PSALM 95. Venite, exultemus. COME, let us sing unto the Lord : let us heart 2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving: and shew ourselves glad in Him with psalms. 3 For the Lord is a great God: and a great King above all gods. 4 In His hand are all the corners of the earth: and the strength of the hills is His also. 5 The sea is His, and He made it: and His hands prepared the dry land. 6 O come, let us worship and fall down: and kneel before the Lord our Maker. 7 For He is the Lord our God: and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. 8 To-day if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness ; 9 When your fathers tempted Me : proved Me, and saw My works. 10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said: It is a people that do err in their hearts, for they have not known My ways; 11 Unto whom I sware in My wrath: that they should not enter into My rest. I PROPER PSALM FOR EASTER DAY. PSALM 111. Confitebor tibi. WILL give thanks unto the Lord with my whole heart secretly among the faithful, and in the congregation. 2 The works of the Lord are great sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. 3 His work is worthy to be praised and had in honour and His righteousness endureth for ever. 4 The merciful and gracious Lord hath so done His marvellous works: that they ought to be had in remembrance. 5 He hath given meat unto them that fear Him : He shall ever be mindful of His covenant. 6 He hath shewed His people the power of His works that He may give them the heritage of the heathen. 7 The works of His hands are verity and judgment all His commandments are true. 8 They stand fast for ever and ever and are done in truth and equity. 9 He sent redemption unto His people: He hath commanded His covenant for ever; holy and reverend is His Name. 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do thereafter; the praise of it endureth for ever. I PSALM 121. Levavi oculos. WILL lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh even from the Lord : Who hath made heaven and earth. 3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved and He that keepeth thee will not sleep. 4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel: shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord himself is thy keeper: the Lord is thy defence upon thy right hand; 6 So that the sun shall not burn thee by day : neither the moon by night. H.C.H. 287 K 7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: yea, it is even He that shall keep thy soul. 8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out, and thy coming in from this time forth for evermore. PROPER PSALM FOR WHITSUNDAY. PSALM 145. Exaltabo te, Deus. I WILL magnify Thee, O God, my King: and I will praise Thy Name for ever and ever. 2 Every day will I give thanks unto Thee: and praise Thy Name for ever and ever. 3 Great is the Lord, and marvellous, worthy to be praised: there is no end of His greatness. 4 One generation shall praise Thy works unto another and declare Thy power. 5 As for me, I will be talking of Thy worship: Thy glory, Thy praise, and wondrous works; 6 So that men shall speak of the might of Thy marvellous acts: and I will also tell of Thy greatness. 7 The memorial of Thine abundant kindness shall be shewed and men shall sing of Thy righteous ness. 8 The Lord is gracious, and merciful: longsuffering, and of great goodness. 9 The Lord is loving unto every man: and His mercy is over all His works. 10 All Thy works praise Thee, O Lord: and Thy saints give thanks unto Thee. 11 They shew the glory of Thy kingdom: and talk of Thy power; 12 That Thy power, Thy glory, and mightiness of Thy kingdom: might be known unto men. 13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom: and Thy dominion endureth throughout all ages. 14 The Lord upholdeth all such as fall: and lifteth up all those that are down. 15 The eyes of all wait upon Thee, O Lord: and Thou givest them their meat in due season. 16 Thou openest Thine hand things living with plenteousness. and fillest all 17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways: and holy in all His works. 18 The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him: yea, all such as call upon Him faithfully. 19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him: He also will hear their cry, and will help them. 20 The Lord preserveth all them that love Him: but scattereth abroad all the ungodly. 21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord : and let all flesh give thanks unto His holy Name for ever and ever. PSALM 148. Laudate Dominum. PRAISE the Lord of heaven: praise Him in the height. 2 Praise Him, all ye angels of His : praise Him, all His host. 3 Praise Him, sun and moon: praise Him, all ye stars and light. : 4 Praise Him, all ye heavens and ye waters that are above the heavens. : 5 Let them praise the Name of the Lord for He spake the word, and they were made; He commanded, and they were created. 6 He hath made them fast for ever and ever: He hath given them a law which shall not be broken. 7 Praise the Lord upon earth: ye dragons, and all deeps; 8 Fire and hail, snow and vapours: wind and storm, fulfilling His word; 9 Mountains and all hills: fruitful trees and all cedars; 10 Beasts and all cattle: worms and feathered fowls; 11 Kings of the earth and all people: princes and all judges of the world; 12 Young men and maidens, old men and children, praise the Name of the Lord: for His Name only is excellent, and His praise above heaven and earth. 13 He shall exalt the horn of His people; all His saints shall praise Him: even the children of Israel, even the people that serveth Him. 1 PRAYERS. BEFORE SERVICE. HEAVENLY Father, give me grace to worship Thee in spirit and in truth; keep me from wandering thoughts; teach me to pray to Thee and to praise Thee as I ought; help me to hear and receive Thy Holy Word, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. O AFTER SERVICE. GOD, my Heavenly Father, Who dost both hear and answer the prayers of Thy children, be pleased to accept my prayers and praises this day; forgive me all my sins; and grant that I may be not only a hearer but also a doer of Thy Word, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
