CITY COUNCIL

MONDAY, DEC. 24, 1917

port an

emergency

purchase amounting to more than $1,000.00 as follows:

Requisition 111-4330 issued by the garbage collection plant called for five cars of No. 1 timothy hay. Market conditions on all kinds of forage are very unsettled at this time, but we were able to purchase these five cars at an exceptionally low price of $26.75 per ton delivered, if we would take advantage of the offer at once. Estimating 12 tons to the car this purchase will amount to $1,605.00 and we believe it to be a decided advantage to the city to make the purchase at this time. Very truly yours, EDWARD SHATTUCK, Commissioner.

Received and referred to the committee on finance.
