OF THE

SPECIAL CONVENTION.

ST. PAUL'S CHURCH,
BURLINGTON, March 11th, 1868.

This being the place and time appointed for the meeting cf the Special Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church, in the Diocese of Vermont, the Clergy and Laity met at ten o'clock A. M.

The Convention was called to order by the Rev. JOSIAH SWETT, D. D., President of the Standing Committee; THOMAS H. CANFIELD, of Burlington, Secretary.

The Secretary then read the Summons of the Standing Committee calling this Convention, which was as follows:---

DIOCESE OF VERMONT.

At a meeting of the Standing Committee of this Diocese, held on the 15th day of January, 1868, it was, on motion,

Resolved, That a special Convention of this Diocese be called, as provided in the Canons of the Church, to meet in St. Paul's Church, Burlington, on the 11th day of March next, at 10 o'clock A. M., to elect a Bishop for the Diocese, in the place of the Rt. Rev. JOHN HENRY HOPKINS, D. D., LL. D., D. C. L., Oxon., deceased, and to devise means for his support.

Therefore, I, the President of the Standing Committee, do hereby summon a Special Convention of this Diocese, to meet at the time and place aforesaid; first, to elect a Bishop; and, secondly, to provide for the support of the same. JOSIAH SWETT.
