Make me to walk in thy commands,
'Tis a delightful road ;

Nor let my head, or heart, or hands,
Offend against my God.

PRAYER

For Tuesday Morning.

FOR HOLINESS.

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty! Thou art of purer eyes than to behold iniquity, neither shall sin dwell with thee. In the sacrifice of thy beloved Sen, thou hast shown thy hatred to sin, and thy love of holiness; he came to put away sin, and to bring in everlasting righteousness: to purify us unto himself as a peculiar people, zealous of good works. O our God, create us anew in Christ Jesus, and enable us to hunger and thirst after righteousness: We believe that all things are naked and open before thee, that thou canst not be deceived by any specious pretences to piety when the heart is not right towards thee: O thou searcher of hearts, we know that we must appear before thee without disguise; O let our hearts be sound in thy atatutes. Let the knowlege of thy holi

ness teach us to deny all ungodliness and fleshly lusts, and to perfect holiness in thy fear. O mortify and destroy in us every rebellious motion, every vicious inclination, that exalts itself against the holy precepts of thy gospel, that gives Satan advantage over us, and hinders our blessed Redeemer from reigning as King supreme in our hearts. Let not sin reign any longer in us, that we should obey it in the lusts thereof; but help us, Lord, to cut off the right hand, and to pluck out the right eye, to keep under our body, and bring it into subjection. Help us, O God of our salvation, against the sins that most easily beset us. Let not sinful flesh, but thy heavenly Spirit and grace, guide and govern us. Gird us, O our God, with might for this spiritual conflict, and enable us to go on conquering and to conquer. O make us ever jealous over our hearts, and watchful over our ways: mortify our pride, and clothe us with humility; mortify our passions, and put on us the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit; pluck up every root of bitterness out of our minds, and make us kind, tender-hearted, as becomes the followers of Jesus. May we put on the Lord Jesus, not in the name and profession only, but so as to walk in him. We would

put on his purity, his self-denial, his meekness, his patience, his bowels of kindness, his submission to his heavenly__Father's will, his love to God and man. Thus may we show forth thy praise, who hast called us out of darkness into marvellous light, and translated us out of the kingdom of Satan, into the kingdom of thy dear Son. Thus may we be training up for that state, where holiness shall be perfected, where we shall behold thy face in righteousness, and be satisfied when we awake in. thy likeness.

Let holiness to the Lord be written upon this house, and upon every heart under this roof. Let sin have no dominion here; but let every soul be a temple for thy Holy Spirit to dwell in. Here let the fruits of righteousness grow to thy praise and glory; and may we all at last appear among the redeemed of the Lord, "who have washed "their robes and made them white in the "blood of the Lamb." Amen.

HYMN.

So let our lips and lives

express

The holy gospel we profess,

So let our works and virtues shine,
To prove the doctrine all divine.

100
Thus shall we best proclaim abroad
The honours of our Saviour God;
When the salvation reigns within,
And grace subdues the power of sin.

Our flesh and sense must be denied, ·
Passion and envy, lust and pride;
While justice, temp'rance, truth and love,
Our inward piety approve.

Religion bears our spirits up,
While we expect that blessed hope,
The bright appearance of the Lord,
And faith stands leaning on his word.

PRAYER

For Tuesday Evening.

We are here again prostrate before thee, O Lord of heaven and earth, to join ourselves with all that holy company who rest not day and night, saying, "Holy, holy,

holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, " and is, and is to come. Thou art worthy "O Lord, to receive glory, honour, and power! for thou hast created all things, "and for thy pleasure they are and were "created." Blessed be thy divine goodness, which has made the children of men but little lower than the angels and

crowned us with such glory and honour, that we are capable of accompanying the heavenly hosts, in giving continual thanks and praise to thee. Praised be thy name for all the comforts of this life, and for the hopes of eternal blessedness in the life to come, through Jesus Christ.-O how great was thy love, which sent him into the world to direct us in the way to that happiness, by his holy doctrine and life; to be a propitiation for our sins by his death; and to be the first that should rise from the dead and should shew light unto the world. We rejoice in that light of life; we most cheerfully devote ourselves to be the faithful disciples of the Prince of Peace, the Lord of Life and Glory. It is our happiness as well as our duty to be governed by him, and obey his commands. We are sensible they are all wise and good, and that it is in love and kindness thou hast taught us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in the world. And, therefore, we here again most heartily surrender our wills to thine; desiring that we may cleave to it with the most entire love and affection to all its commands. O that there may abide in us such a strong and powerful sense of thy mighty love towards us in Christ Jesus, as
