OBJECT.

To perpetuate the memory and history of the heroic deeds of the soldiers, sailors and marines of the civil war, the proper observance of Memorial day, to inculcate patriotism and love of country and to secure an emulation among the younger generation of the heroic loyalty of their soldier fathers.
