A laboratory manual of assignments, not definitions.

VOCATIONAL ARITHMETIC FOR GIRLS, Davis; Bruce Publishing Company, Milwaukee, 137 pps.

A FIRST FRENCH COURSE, Roux; The Macmillan Company, 304 pps. Each lesson contains (a) a vocabulary, (b) a French text, (c) a questionnaire on the text, (d) a grammar lesson, (e) class room expressions or a series of actions, and (f) direct method exercises. Send for a copy.

Books on Economics like this one are justifying a place for economics in the high school.

This is the latest volume of the Government Handbooks issued by this company. The Government of Canada was the first of the series, followed by that of Switzerland. The series bids fair to be the most authoritative treatment of modern governments extant. on France is particularly timely and instructive. SONS OF LIBERTY, Dyer; Henry Holt and Company, 436 pps.

This is an interesting story of the part New England men had in the Revolution, the story centering around Paul Reviere. It will prove valuable for supplementary reading in United States History classes.

HISTORY OF SCIENCE, Libby; Houghton Mifflin and Company, 288 pps. Mr. Libby has presented the history of science from Egyptian times to the present. It presents the sciences in their interrelation and shows the continuity of man's progress, ever building on the old and using knowledge wherever found in making new discoveries to meet the growing demands of a complex civilization. The work should find a place in high school libraries.

GREEK LEADERS, Hopkinson; Houghton Mifflin and Company, 259 pps. Solon, Themistocles, Pericles, Alcibiades, Socrates, Agesilous, Diony sius, Epominondas, Demosthenes, Alexander and Arotus are treated in an attractive style. Editorials

The Atlantic City Meeting.

It was a great gathering of educators. The accommodations at the hotels were excellent. The Million Dollar Pier could hold the assembled multitudes and ample room was left for the unusually good exhibits of school supplies, books, and other school helps.

For many, the small auxiliary meetings were the most helpful. Here acquaintances could be formed and a subject considered calmly.
