Those unfamiliar with the course of picture study of the Horace K. Turner Co., Boston, were much interested in learning of their plan. The course is for use in the public schools from the lowest primary grade through the high school. The studies are adapted in subject and treatment to the mental development of the children in the several grades, and are to be regarded as suggestive material for teachers for developing the perceptions, imagination and love of nature. The lives of artists are touched upon, but made subordinate to the study of their pictures, as the interest in the spirit and meaning of the picture is more desired. It is intended that the course shall be an element of joy and restfulness to both pupils and teachers. The picture studies, one for each grade, are issued monthly, and are accompanied by suggested reading.

Thomas Charles Co., Northwestern Agents for Milton Bradley Co., had an extensive exhibit of the Bradley art and drawing materials. They also showed water color work from different towns done with the Bradley colors. W. T. Dix and F. V. Cann of the Chicago office, L. L. Narramore of the Philadelphia office, and Allan Evans, the Ohio agent, were in attendance.

COPING SAW NO. 42

BALL BEARING

This Coping Saw Frame has ball bearings under the head of the outer draw bolt, so the Frame revolves automatically without reference to the angle of the blade, and according to the requirements, as the work is being done. When desired, the Frame may be made absolutely rigid.

The automatic revolving of the Frame is a great advantage as it obviates the necessity of stopping work to change the angle of the blade in the Frame when operating in various directions.

To use the Frame, insert the blade, then strain the same to the required tension by use of the handle, and when the tension is correct, turn down the knurled nut, allowing the small end of wing gib to enter one of the slots in draw bolt. This will prevent the handle from turning backward off the bolt when using. Two of the slots in draw bolt are deeper than the other two, and are to be used by making Frame rigid by allowing end of the gib to go down through same into the "V" slot in clamp.

This Frame is certainly a great improvement over any device in the market, both in the way of time saving and convenience.
