Resolved, That the general treasurer be, and he is hereby, directed to issue to the following disabled soldiers and sailors, viz:

licenses to personally peddle any merchandise, except watches, jewelry, gold, silver, and German silver ware, for the term of one year, without cost to the said persons, and that said licenses be not transferable.

RESOLUTION suspending Joint Rule No. 9.

Resolved, That joint rule No. 9 be suspended so far that all public laws passed on Friday, April 12th, shall be engrossed after the passage thereof, and the secretary of state is hereby authorized to certify the same and place them on file in his office.

RESOLUTION of thanks to His Excellency Charles C.
Van Zandt.

Resolved, That the thanks of this senate are justly due and are hereby tendered to his excellency Charles C. Van Zandt, for the able, courteous and impartial manner in which he has presided over the deliberations of this senate during the past year.

RESOLUTION to appoint a Joint Select Committee to par consider the subject matter of the Governor's 26, 1878. Proclamation.

Resolved, (the senate concurring in the passage hereof,) That all bills pending before the general assembly in reference to the subject matter of the governor's message be committed to a joint select committee of the two houses, to consist of Messrs. William P. Sheffield of Newport, Nathan F. Dixon of Westerly, Claudius B. Farnsworth of Pawtucket, John F. Tobey of Providence, George Lewis Cooke of Warren, Andrew Comstock and Charles Sidney Smith of Providence, on the part of the house; and Messrs. Pardon E. Tillinghast of Pawtucket, Jonathan Chace of Lincoln, Thomas Davis of Providence, Augustus O. Bourn of Bristol, and Charles Nourse of Woonsocket, on the part of the senate; to consider said bills and report thereon as soon as practicable.
