adopted universally. They also feel assured that FOREIGN BOOKSELLERS, and IMPORTERS of FOREIGN BOOKS, would find it greatly to their advantage to send periodically to THE PUBLISHERS' CIRCULAR a list of the more important Continental Publications.

The Proprietors beg to state that they have no pecuniary interest in THE CIRCULAR, but they retain the entire control of its management in their own hands, a Committee having been appointed for the purpose. The scale of charges for Advertisements has been fixed as low as is consistent with only a fair remuneration to the Editor for his trouble, and it falls far below that of any other Periodical of equal circulation.

The following is a general statement of the manner in which the Three Thousand gratuitous Copies of THE CIRCULAR are distributed :

350 to London Booksellers;

550 to Clergymen, Heads of Colleges, &c. ;
900 to Book Societies and Literary Persons ;
100 to the Colonies, Army Depôts, &c. ;
