Evening Prayer. Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. ST.LUKE XXIV,29 Let my prayer come before Thee as incense, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Ps. cxli, 2. Every day will I bless Thee and will praise Thy name for ever and ever. Thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. I will Ps. Ivi, 13. both lay me down in peace and sleep, for Thou Lord only makest me to dwell in safety. Promise. Thou shalt make Thy prayer unto Him and He shall hear Thee. At eventide there shall be light. With my soul have I desired Thee in the night. Oh, my God, I cry in the night season and am not silent, where is God, my Maker, JOB XXXV, 10. who giveth songs in the night? My mouth shall praise Thee with joyful lips, when I remember Thee upon my bed and meditate on Thee in the night watches. At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto Thee, because of Thy righteous judgments. Ps. lxiii, 6. Ps. cxix, 62. Is. xlii, 16. Pr. i, 33. Is. xxvi, 3. Promise. I will make darkness light. Whoso hearkeneth unto Me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. Thou shalt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee. BEFORE PUBLIC WORSHIP. Prayer. Lord, teach us to pray. I will ST. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God; He heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry came before Him even into His ears. He hath put a new song into my mouth, even praise unto our God. Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ. Promise. In everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.
