FALL OF ADAM-THE REMEDY IS SALVATION TO ALL BELIEVERS IN CHRIST THE SECOND ADAM.

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.-Genesis iii. 15.

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. -Isaiah vii. 14.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.—Isaiah ix. 6.

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.—Matthew i. 21.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth, and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.-Mark xvi. 15, 16.

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke xix. 10.

And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.-Luke xxiii. 42, 43.

And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.—Acts xvi. 30, 31.

Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.-Romans v. 18, 19.

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.-1 Corinthians xv. 21, 22, 45.

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.—Revelation iii. 18.

FEAR OF GOD, TO BE OBSERVED BY ALL PEOPLE, AS A DUTY -AS A PRIVILEGE.

And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.-Deuteronomy x. 12.

And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?—Job i. 8.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.— —Psalm cxi. 10.

If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.-Psalm CXXX. 3, 4.

Let not thine heart envy sinners; but be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long.--Proverbs xxiii. 17.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter; Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.— Ecclesiastes xii. 13.

Then they that feared the Lord spoke often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.-Malachi iii. 16, 17.

Then had the churches rest throughout all Judea, and Galilee, and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.— Acts ix. 31.

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling: for it is God which worketh in you, both to will and to do of his good pleasure.—Philippians i. 12, 13.

Wherefore, we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.-Hebrews xii. 28, 29.

Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.-Revelation xv. 4.

"FEAR NOT,” PRECIOUS WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO STIMULATE FAITH, HOPE, CONFIDENCE OF THE PIOUS.

After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.-Genesis xv. I.

And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.—Deuteronomy xxxi. 8.

And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong, and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed; for the Lord God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.-1 Chronicles xxviii. 20.

Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you.-Isaiah xxxv. 4.

For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the Lord, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.-Isaiah xli. 13, 14.

Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.-Daniel x. 12.

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.-Matthew i. 20.

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary; for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.—Luke i. 30, 31.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not : for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.-Luke ii. 10, 11.

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.-Luke xii. 32.

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.Revelation i. 17, 18.

FOOD, TEMPORAL, IS NECESSARY FOR THE Life, Health, AND COMFORT OF OUR MORTAL BODIES.

And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.— Genesis ii. 9.

And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.— Genesis vi. 21.

Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. -Job xxiii. 12.

Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.-Ecclesiastes v. 18.

Give us this day our daily bread.—Matthew vi. 11.

At that time Jesus went on the Sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat.-Matthew xii. 1.

And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to

eat.

And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. He said, Bring them hither to me.—Matthew xiv. 15-18.

And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing. Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you. And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.-Acts xxvii. 33-35.

Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. — Romans xii. 20.

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.— I Timothy v. 8.

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.--1 Timothy vi. 7, 8.

FOOD, SPIRITUAL NOURISHMENT, IS NECESSARY FOR THE LIFE, HEALTH AND COMFORT OF OUR IMMORTAL SOULS.

How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.Psalm xxxvi. 7, 8.

I am come into my garden, my sister, my spouse: I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honey-comb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, Ó beloved.-Song of Solomon v. I.

And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines, on the lees: of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.—Isaiah xxv. 6.

Wherefore do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.-Isaiah lv. 2.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.-Matthew v. 6.

And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.-Luke xxii. 19, 20.

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.—John vi. 53-55.

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.—Acts xx. 28.

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.-Hebrews v. 14.

As new-born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby; if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. -1 Peter ii, 2, 3.
