The Mr. ASHWORTH reported the election of Sir Nigel Kingscote as Chairman of the year. The accounts for the month ended December 31, 1901, as certified by the Society's Accountants, showed total receipts amounting to 2,1757. 58. 8d., and expenditure amounting to 3,2471. Os. 4d. accounts for the month ended January 31, 1902, which were also presented, showed total receipts amounting to 5,0957. 118. 11d. Accounts amounting in all to 1,3967. 14s. 9d. had been passed, and were recommended for payment. House. The Hon. CECIL PARKER reported the election of Sir Nigel Kingscote as Chairman of the year, and presented a number of accounts for payment. A letter had been received from Miss Emily Dew, offering to the Society a portrait in oils of the late Mr. John Monkhouse, of The Stow, Whitney, Herefordshire, who had been wellknown as a breeder of Hereford cattle. The Committee recommended the acceptance of this offer with thanks. Journal. Sir JOHN THOROLD reported his election as Chairman of the year. Copies had been laid upon the table of Volume 62 of the Society's Journal, of which the delivery to members had been completed. Various letters expressing appreciation of the new Volume had been received. The Committee desired to express their sincere acknowledgments and thanks to Mr. R. Neville Grenville for his interesting article on cider-making in the new Journal. Reprints had been authorised of three of the Society's pamphlets, the present editions of which had run out of print. The Committee had considered a large number of applications, received during the past two years, for free or exchange copies of the Journal, and had given instructions to the Secretary as to which of them should be granted. The thanks of the Society were due to Mr. Martin Sutton for a library copy of the sixth edition of his work on "Permanent and Temporary Pastures," and to Mr. E. J. Wythes, of Copped Hall, Essex, for his presentation of a series of papers and reports of the old Board of Agriculture. Chemical and Woburn. Mr. BOWEN-JONES reported his election as Chairman of the year. The Committee had considered and approved of the evidence which he and Dr. Voelcker proposed to give before the Poisons Committee appointed by the Privy Council to consider the Pharmacy Act, 1868, and to report the alterations which they deem it expedient to make with regard to the |
