4 When we appear in yonder cloud Then will we sing more sweet, more loud, 443. P.M.-Praise to Jesus, the Lamb of God. 1 COME, all ye saints of God! Tell what his love hath done; Worthy the Lamb!" 2 Hence, gloomy doubts and fears! Dry up your mournful tears; Join our glad theme: Beauty for ashes bring, Strike each melodious string, 3 Hark! how the choirs above, There, too, may we be found, 444. C.M.-The Church militant learning the Church triumphant's Song. 1 SING we the song of those who stand Around the eternal throne, Of every kindred, clime and land, 2 Life's poor distinctions vanish here; Our Saviour and his flock appear 3 Toil, trial, suffering, still await 4 Worthy the Lamb for sinners slain, 5 Worthy the Lamb, on earth we sing, Henceforth, O Death! where is thy sting? 6 Then hallelujah! power and praise 1 2 May all who now this anthem raise, 445. S.M.-"Get thee out of thy Country," &c. Gen. xii. 1. IN every time and place, Who serve the Lord most high, Are call'd his sovereign will to' embrace, To follow his command, And seek an undiscover'd land, And house and friends above. Father, the narrow path To that far country show; And in the steps of Abraham's faith Enable me to go, A cheerful sojourner, Where'er thou bidd'st me roam, Till, guided by thy Spirit here, 446. P.M.-Seeking a better Country. Heb. xi. 14. 1 LEADER of faithful souls, and Guide Of all that travel to the sky; Come, and with us, even us, abide, Who would on thee alone rely; On thee alone our spirits stay, While held in life's uneven way. 2 Strangers and pilgrims here below, This earth, we know, is not our place; But hasten through the vale of wo, And restless to behold thy face; Swift to our heavenly country move, Our everlasting home above. 3 We have no 'biding city here; But seek a city out of sight; Thither our steady course we steer, Aspiring to the plains of light; Jerusalem, the saints' abode, Whose founder is the living God. 4 Patient the' appointed course to run, This weary world we cast behind; From strength to strength we travel on, The new Jerusalem to find; Our labour this, our only aim, To find the new Jerusalem. 5 Through thee, who all our sins hast borne, Contending for our native heaven; We urge our way with strength renew'd, With joy upon our heads arise, 447. L.M.-Christians seeking a City to come. Heb. xi. 14. 1 "WE'VE no abiding city here;" This may distress the worldly mind, But should not cost the saint a tear, Who hopes a better rest to find. 2" We've no abiding city here;" Sad truth, were this to be our home; But let this truth our spirits cheer, We seek a city yet to come. 3" We've no abiding city here," Then let us live as pilgrims do; Let not the world our rest appear, But let us haste from all below. 4 "We've no abiding city here," We seek a city out of sight; Zion's its name-the Lord is there, It shines with everlasting light. 5 O! sweet abode of peace and love, Where pilgrims freed from toil are blest! Had I the pinions of the dove, I'd fly to thee, and be at rest. 6 But hush, my soul, nor dare repine! P.M. 448. "The Lord is my Helper." Heb. xiii. 6. 1 OFT, as I look upon the road 2 But when I think of him, whose power And place on him reliance; My soul is then asham'd of fear, 3 The dangerous road I then pursue, 4 O Lord, each day renew my strength, 449. C.M.-The Christian's future Rest. 1 WE seek a rest beyond the skies, In everlasting day; Through floods and flames the passage lies, 2 The swelling flood, and raging flame, 450. C.M.-The Highway to Zion. Isa. xxxv. 8-10. 1 SING, ye redeemed of the Lord, 2 See the fair way his hand hath rais'd; Nor shall the simplest travellers err, |
