Attend our humble cry; 2 And let thy servants share We plead the promise of thy word, If earthly parents hear Their children when they cry; If they, with love sincere, Their children's wants supply; Much more wilt thou thy love display, 3 4 5 6 Our heavenly Father! Thou- O, let thy Spirit now Descend and fill the place; That all may feel the heavenly flame, Oh, may that sacred fire, Descending from above, With fervent zeal and love; The preaching of thy word; That heathen lands may own thy sway, Then shall thy kingdom come And the whole earth become The temple of thy grace; Whence pure devotion shall ascend, PUBLIC AND SOCIAL WORSHIP. 602.
