Nice describing lots of explanations.

A classic example of how history can be distorted - deeply offensive to anyone who knows anything about Greek history and sees themselves as politically to the left of Genghis Khan.
Mind you the
same author wrote an obituary for Monty Woodhouse, another rabid anti-communist. Woodhouse, having done his bit to ensure a non-democratic Greece for decades to come, was instrumental in the coup that overthrew Mohammed Mossadeq in Iran. Mossadeq is described by Clogg as 'the Iranian politician bent on nationalising the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company'. Funny, we non-historians would describe him as Iran's first and only ever democratically elected Prime Minister, brought down, like the Greek republican movement, to further 'British interests'.
