THESE "Observations on some of the Phenomena of Malarial Fever," form the first of a series of observations which the author is conducting upon the fevers of the North American Continent. The first three chapters are devoted to the consideration of the nature and extent of Pathological Investigations, and are intended as a general introduction to the whole series of investigations. No one is more painfully alive to the imperfections of these incomplete observations than the author; and if they should result in inducing a single young man to enter this field, with correct views and the right spirit, he will feel that he has been rewarded for his labors. |
