Excerpt from Laws of the State of California Relative to Railroads and Railroad Corporations, Which Were in Force January 1, 1879: Together With a Compilation of the Titles of All Acts and Resolutions Relative to Railroads and Railroad Corporations, Passed by the Legislature of the State of California, 1850-1878

Among the Objects sought to be attained by the following compila tion of the statutes is that of presenting, in a convenient form for reference, the general and special laws in force, relating to railroad corporations.

The general railroad incorporation law of eighteen hundred and sixty-one, continued in force by operation of section two hundred and eighty-eight of the Civil Code; the general incorporation law, and the general railroad incorporation law, of the Civil Code, which took effect January first, eighteen hundred and seven ty-three, together with extracts from the four Codes, relating to the subject of railroad and transportation companies, are herewith presented.

The general and special Acts, the titles of which are to be found in Appendix A, with notes, Showing when amended, supplemented or repealed, together with the Resolutions relative to railroads, to be found in Appendix B, will be of service in Showing the course of legislation upon the subjects to which they relate.
