XI. The Commissioners may at any Time, by Agreement with Commissionany Bishop, or with the Dean and the Majority of Canons in any me the Chapter, undertake the Management of the permanent Estate which Management has been conveyed to him or them as aforesaid; in the Case of a 5 Bishop, for and during the Period of his Incumbency; and in the or Chapters. XII. After the Conveyance of a permanent Estate to any Bishop Commissionor Chapter as aforesaid, the Commissioners shall make Inquiry into the Value of the Lands, Tithes, Tenements, and Hereditaments then 15 belonging to such Bishop or Chapter, at the Times herein-after mentioned; that is to say, in the Case of a Bishop, upon the Avoidance Bishops and of the See; and in the Case of a Chapter, at the Expiration of Years subsequent to such Conveyance; and in case the net yearly Income derived from such Lands and Premises shall be 20 less than the net yearly Income which the same when conveyed were intended to produce, the Commissioners shall, out of any Lands, Estates, or Revenues for the Time being vested in them, assign an additional Endowment to such Bishop or Chapter, as the Case may be; and in case the net yearly Income of such Lands and Premises 25 shall exceed the net yearly Income which the same when conveyed were intended to produce, the Commissioners shall cause to be transferred to themselves, in such Form and Manner as they shall think fit, such Portion of such Lands and Premises as they shall determine, so that in either Case the net yearly Income of such permanent 30 Estate shall upon every such Inquiry be restored to the Amount which the Lands and Premises originally conveyed were intended to yield, or as near thereto as Circumstances will allow; and the Provisions herein contained with respect to the Conveyance and Valuation of Lands, Tithes, Tenements, or Hereditaments shall apply to any 35 additional Endowment to be assigned as aforesaid.

XIII. XIV. If any Difference shall arise between the Commissioners and any Body or Person touching the Income to be paid to any Dean or 5 Arbitration. Canon, or the annual or other Sums of Money to be paid to any Chapter, as herein-before directed, or touching the Value of the permanent Estate proposed to be conveyed to any Bishop or Chapter, or touching the net yearly Value of the same after such Estate shall have been so conveyed, or the Necessity of any Repairs required by the 10 Commissioners to be made and executed with respect thereto, or as to the Propriety of any Lease, or as to the Amount of Compensation to be awarded to any Officer or Person under this Act, the Matter in dispute shall be referred to Arbitration, One Arbitrator shall be named by the Commissioners, and One by the Body or Persons differing 15 with them; and the Two Arbitrators so appointed shall, before they proceed in the Matter referred to them, appoint an Umpire; and the Proceedings upon such Arbitration shall be conducted in like Manner and subject to the same Rules and Enactments as upon a Reference made by Consent upon a Rule of Court or Judge's Order: Provided 20 always, that the said Parties may appoint One and the same Person to act as a sole Arbitrator, in which Case the Acts and Awards of such Arbitrator shall have the same Effect as the Acts and Award of the Arbitrators and Umpire under the Provisions herein contained; and in every Case the Costs of such Arbitration and Award shall be 25 in the Discretion of the said Arbitrators or Umpire, or of the said Arbitrator, as the Case may be.

that where such Person shall be permanently placed in any other
Office of which the Salary and Emoluments are equal to or more than 35

long as he shall continue to be so placed, then such Compensation
shall altogether cease to be paid; and where such Salary and
Emoluments shall amount to Part of such Compensation by way of
Annuity, then such Compensation shall abate in proportion.

The annual Cost for the Performances of the Services, for the Provision and Repairs of the Church Furniture, and the Payment of Rates, Taxes, and all other customary and necessary Outgoings.

Amount of Augmentations to all Vicarages and Benefices charged on or payable from the Cathedral Funds.

Amount of Subscriptions and Donations to Churches, Schools, Parsonage Houses, Charities, or otherwise.

Abolish the Annuity Tax levied within the City of Edinburgh, Parish of Canongate, and Burgh of Montrose, and to make Provision for the future Payment of the Stipends of the Ministers thereof.

HEREAS it is expedient that the Annuity Tax, as at Preamble. present levied within the City of Edinburgh and Parish of Canongate for behoof of the Ministers thereof respectively, and within the Burgh of Montrose for behoof of the Second 5 Minister thereof, should be abolished, and that Provision should otherwise be made for the future Payment of such Ministers: Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the Authority 10 of the same, as follows:
