MEDITATION. Rejoice PRE. I. Consider these words of the Apostle : with them that do rejoice; and weep with them that weep."Rom. xii. 5; or, "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so shall ye fulfil the law of Christ."—Gal. vi. 2. PRE. II. Pray for the persons for whom you are about to intercede. I. MEM.-Call the one for whom you intend to pray distinctly before your mind. Recollect his wants, temptations, dangers: all that is against him. INT. Consider all this, and put yourself in his place, till you feel his burden pressing upon yourself. REF.-Let this burden weigh fully on you, until you realize its weight. WILL.-Turn with all your might to God, and intercede for pity: pardon: help. II. MEM.-Remember the assistances, talents, graces, etc., given to the same person, and all that is in his favour: and the good gifts of God awaiting him. INT.-Consider all these things, and put yourself in his place. REF.-Let these things lighten all your mind and soul with hope and gratitude. WILL.-With all your power of thankfulness, pray for grace to be given him to profit by such good things. COLL.-Prayer to Christ, or invocation of the Holy Ghost, on behalf of the person for whom you intercede. |
