THE WOES DENOUNCED IN THE BIBLE.

Woe unto the wicked! it shall be Isaiah iii. 11. ill with him!

Woe unto them that join house to Isaiah v. 8. house, that lay field to field, till

there be no place, that they may be alone in the midst of the earth! Woe unto them that rise up early

in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night till wine inflame them! And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts; but they regard not the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of His hands!

Isaiah v. 11, 12.

Woe unto them that draw iniquity Isaiah v. 18, 19. with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope : that say, Let Him make speed, and hasten His work, that we may see it; and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!

Woe to the crown of pride!

Woe unto them that seek deep to

stroy and scatter the sheep of

my pasture! saith the Lord

Thus saith the Lord God: Woe Ezekiel xiii. 3.

unto the foolish prophets, that

follow their own spirit, and have

seen nothing!

Woe be to the shepherds of Israel Ezekiel xxxiv. 2.

that do feed themselves! should

not the shepherds feed the flock?

Woe unto them that have fled from Hosea vii. 13. me! destruction unto them! be

cause they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet have they spoken against me

Woe to them when I depart from Hosea ix. 12. them!

Woe unto you that desire the day Amos v. 18. of the Lord! to what end is it

for you? the day of the Lord is darkness, and not light

Woe to them that are at ease in Amos vi. 1.

Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!

Woe to them that devise iniquity, Micah ii. 1. and work evil upon their beds!
