SECT. 4.2 If the character of the rock to be drilled is such that casing is required to safely drill the hole to the required depth, the Contractor shall continue to drive casing to such depth as may be required. The diameter of the casing used shall not be reduced below that which will give 13-inch core, without permission.

SECT. 4.3 After the drilling of any hole has been completed the Contractor shall refill the hole with satisfactory material from the test-pits and shall remove the casing, if any.

SECT. 4.4 Each core boring shall be measured for payment from the surface of the sound rock as determined by the wash boring to the bottom of the drilled hole.

SECT. 4.5 Under Item 4 payment shall be made at the price stipulated for the number of linear feet of core borings measured in the manner stipulated. This payment shall include all labor and material necessary to furnish, set up and operate the drilling machines; to carry the casings to the required depth; to drill the rock; to obtain, preserve, mark, box and deliver the cores; to refill the hole after completion of drilling; to remove the casing; to take down and remove machines; to move machines to new locations, and to clean up premises occupied by said machines. The cost of all water used and appliances for procuring the same shall be included in the price stipulated under Item 4.

SECT. 5.1 Where directed, the Contractor shall make borings to determine the character of the material underlying Silver lake. He shall support the boring apparatus on a suitable raft, scow or platform. The method of operation shall be similar to that specified for land borings and if bed-rock is encountered, core borings shall be made if so ordered.

SECT. 5.2 Measurement for payment shall be made from Measurement. the surface of the water to the lowest point reached by the casing or drill.

SECT. 5.3 Under Item 5 payment shall be made for the Payment. actual number of linear feet of lake borings measured in the manner specified, and shall include all apparatus, labor and materials necessary to make the borings as herein specified, and for the removal of all machinery, tools, lumber or supports from the site of the work.

SECT. 6.1 Blasting necessary to assist in the sinking of Blasting. casings or test-pits shall be done by the Contractor. He shall furnish all necessary dynamite of suitable quality, batteries, wiring and other apparatus. He shall observe the provisions of Article XVIII hereof, and shall cover or otherwise satisfactorily protect the blasts.

SECT. 6.2 Under Item 6 payment shall be made for the Payment. number of pounds of dynamite used as directed.

SECT. 7.1 The Contractor shall not remove any casing Description. ordered left in place. It is expected that not more than two sizes of casing will be ordered left in place at any hole, and the Contractor shall remove the outer lines of casing, using care not to disturb those lines which are ordered left in place.

No allowance shall be made for couplings or other fittings that may be required for the pipe.

SECT. 7.3 Under Item 7 payment will be made for the number of pounds of casing ordered left in place, measured in the manner specified. This payment shall include all labor and material necessary to protect the pipe while removing other casing, and to cut, thread and cap the pipe at the level ordered.
