A LONG sea voyage and a bracing climate, having been recommended to me by my medical attendant, it was thought by my friends that these objects could not be united more completely than by a voyage to New Zealand; and I have ventured to lay before the public this short account of my sojourn in the Canterbury Settlement, under an impression that, whilst it may convey some instruction to parties about to depart for the Colony, it may not at the present time be altogether uninteresting to the general public, in common with individuals having friends already settled there.
