Principal Ports.-Angra (Island of Terceira), Ponta Delgada (Island of St. Miguel, or St. Michael), Horta (Isle of Fayal), and Islands of St. George, St. Marin, Pico, Graciosa, Corvo, and Flores.

The group of the Azores consists of nine islands, of which Angra, in Terceira, is the capital and residence of the civil governor; but St. Michael's is the most productive, and the seat of the bishop. It is 35 miles long, and about 10 broad from north to south. Population, 105,000. All England attests the reputation of their oranges.-Rev. R. Walsh, Notices of Brazil.

GIBRALTAR.

STEAMERS TO HOIST NUMBERS.

Gibraltar, March 14, 1854.

The Garrison Quarter-Master presents his compliments to Mr. Longlands Cowell, and begs to suggest to him (by direction of His Excellency the Governor), that he should give instructions, to the commanders of the steamers consigned to him, to hoist their numbers according to Marryat's Code, when they come so near to the rock as to be distinguishable from the Upper Signal Station; the names of the steamers will then be sent down, and forwarded to the Port Office.

RIFF COAST.

Extract of a letter from Capt. the Hon. Geo. Grey, dated June 26, 1854. I would suggest to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty that a public notice, warning merchant vessels from approaching the Riff Coast, might be beneficial until there is more security against the marauders, in consequence of the plunder of the British brig Cuthbert Young.
