and she ministered unto them. And they brought unto Him all that were diseased and them that were possessed with devils: and He cast out the devils and healed the sick. And He preached in the synagogues throughout all Galilee.

And a leper came to Him, saying: If Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean: and He stretched forth His hand and touched him, and saith: I will; be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. And He said unto him: See thou say nothing to any man; but shew thyself to the priest, and offer what Moses commanded for a testimony unto them.

And they came bringing one sick of the palsy. When Jesus saw their faith He said: Son, thy sins are forgiven. But the scribes reasoned in their hearts: This man blasphemeth. And Jesus, perceiving in His spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, saith unto them: Why reason ye these things in your hearts? Whether is it easier to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins-He saith to the sick of the palsy: Arise, take up thy bed, and go thy way into thy house. And he arose, and took up the bed, and went. And they were all amazed and glorified God.

And as He passed by, He saw Levi, the son of Alphæus, sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him: Follow Me. And he arose and followed Him. And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, and many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and His disciples, that the Pharisees, when they saw Him eat, said unto His disciples: He eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners. When Jesus heard it, He saith unto them: They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

John's disciples came and said unto Him: Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but Thy disciples fast not? Jesus said unto them: Can the children of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast. No man seweth a piece of unshrunken cloth on an old garment: else the unshrunken piece which ought to fill taketh from the old and the rent

is made worse. No man putteth new wine into old wineskins: else the new wine doth burst the wine-skins, and the wine is spilled and the wine-skins are marred: but new wine must be put into new wine-skins.

He went through the corn-fields on the sabbath day; and His disciples began, as they walked, to pluck the ears of corn. The Pharisees said unto Him: Behold, why do they that which is not lawful on the sabbath day? And He said unto them: Have ye never read what David did, when he had need and was hungry, he and they that were with him? How he went into the house of Abiathar, the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat save for the priests, and gave also to them that were with him. The Son of Man is lord of the sabbath.

He entered into the synagogue, and there was a man which had a withered hand. And they watched Him whether He would heal on the sabbath day, that they might accuse Him. He said unto them: Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath day? and He said to the man: Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Great multitudes from Galilee, from Jerusalem, from Judea, and from beyond Jordan followed Him when they heard what great things He did. As many as had plagues pressed upon Him to touch Him, and He healed many; and they that were troubled with unclean spirits were healed.

He went up into a mountain and called unto Him whom He would: and they came unto Him. And He appointed Twelve that they should be with Him, and that He might send them forth to preach, and to have power to heal diseases and to cast out devils:-Peter (the name given to Simon), and James, the son of Zebedee, and John, the brother of James, and Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James, the son of Alphæus, and Thaddeus, and Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.

The scribes which came down from Jerusalem said: He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth He out devils. And He called them unto Him and said to them: How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom be

divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rise up against himself and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. No man can enter into a strong man's house and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man. Verily I say unto you: All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and their blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost never hath forgiveness.

His mother and His brethren came, and standing without, sent unto Him; and He answered and said: Who is My mother and My brethren? and looking round about on them which sat about Him, He said: Behold My mother and My brethren. For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is My brother, and My sister, and My mother.

He began to teach by the sea-side, and a great multitude gathered: and He went into a boat and sat; and all the multitude were by the sea on the land. And He taught them

many things by parables: and said in His teaching :

Hearken: Behold a sower went out to sow; and it came to pass as he sowed that some seed fell by the way side, and the birds came and ate it. And some fell on the stony ground, where it had not much earth; and it sprang up at once because it had no depth of earth; but when the sun was up it was scorched; and because it had no root it withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, some sixty, and some an hundred. He that hath ears to hear let him hear.

When He was alone, they that were about Him with the Twelve, asked of Him the parable. He said unto them: To you is given the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without in parables; that seeing they may see and not perceive: and hearing they may hear and not understand.

The sower soweth the word. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; when they have heard, Satan cometh and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. And these are they likewise which are

sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; and have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended. And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

Is a lamp brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on the lamp-stand? For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

With what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and more shall be given: for he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which is less than all the seeds: but when it is sown, it groweth up, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

And they took Him in the boat. And there arose a great storm of wind, and He was in the hinder part of the boat, asleep on the cushion: and they awake Him, and say unto Him: Master, we perish. And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and there was a great calm. And He said unto them: How is it that ye have no faith? another: Who is this, that even the Him?

And they said one to wind and the sea obey

And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when He was come out of the boat, there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit. When he saw Jesus afar off, he cried with a loud voice: What have I to do with Thee, Jesus, Thou Son of the most high God? I adjure Thee by God, that Thou torment me not. Now there was in the mountain a great herd of

swine feeding. And all the devils besought Him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea. And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city. And they went out to see what it was that was done. And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. And they began to pray Him to depart out of their coasts.

There cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw Him, he fell at His feet, and besought Him, saying: My daughter lieth at the point of death: come and lay Thy hands on her, that she may be healed, and live. And Jesus went with him. And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, came in the crowd behind, and touched His garment. For she said, If I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole. And He said unto her: Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole. While He yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain who said: Thy daughter is dead. Jesus saith unto the ruler of the synagogue: Be not afraid, only believe. And He cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. And when He was come in, He saith unto them: Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed Him to scorn. But when He had put them all out, He took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, TALITHA CUMI; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway the damsel arose, and walked.

And He came into His own country; and when the sabbath day was come, He began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing were astonished, saying: From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto Him, that such mighty works are wrought by His hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Judah, and Simon? and are not His sisters here with us? And they were offended at Him. But Jesus said unto them: A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and among his own kin. And He could there do no mighty work, save that He
