The regular meeting of the board of control was called to order at 10:00 a. m. Friday, July 5, 1918. Present: Directors FitzGerald, Bernstein, Beman, Sprosty, Neal, Farrell and Waite.

Absent: Mayor Davis.

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented, and on motion of the acting president, the following resolutions were adopted:

Resolved, by the board of control, that the commissioner of purchases and supplies be and he is hereby authorized and directed to lease the real estate herein described, to be used as a garbage collection station, under the division of garbage disposal, in the department of public service:

Situated in the city of Cleveland, county of Cuyahoga and state of Ohio, and known as all such parts of sublots Nos. 401, 402, 403, 404, 405, not now owned by the city of Cleveland, and occupied for purposes of the Central viaduct; the tract hereby leased being bounded easterly by Canal rd.; westerly by The Baltimore & Ohio railroad; northerly by the northerly line of sublot No. 401; and southeasterly by the said land owned by the city of Cleveland occupied by the Central viaduct.

Be it further resolved, that the commissioner of purchases and supplies be and he is hereby authorized and directed to lease the said real estate for a yearly rental of nine hundred dollars ($900.00), payable in quarterly installments of two hundred and twenty-five dollars ($225.00) each, for a period of three (3) years, commencing on the 1st day of July, 1918, and ending on the 30th day of June, 1921; together with taxes and assessments; and further provided that the city of Cleveland shall have an option for an additional term of two (2) years upon the same terms and conditions provided for in said lease; the said rental to be paid out of miscellaneous fund known as F-8.

And, be it further resolved, that this resolution take effect and be in force on and after June 1, 1918, with the exception of items Nos. 119 and 121, which shall relate back to April 1st; items Nos. 39, 110, 113, 114, 116, 117, 185 to 192 inclusive, which shall relate back to May 1st; items Nos. 95 and 122 which shall relate back to May 16th; and item No. 118 which shall date from June 3rd, and rate of 90c per hour for carpenters from May 1st to June 1, 1918.

July 17th, 1918. for positions of firemen in the division of fire, department of public safety, at a place to be later designated.

Each applicant will be required to undergo a physical examination, to be conducted by the medical officer of the division of fire, at the Orange ave. municipal bath house, 1611 Orange ave.. at a time to be later announced by mail to each applicant.

Applicants rejected in the physical examination, will be disqualified.
