Jugemens prononcés par quelques Critiques sur la première édition de cette Grammaire. Monthly Magazine, 1799. The best Grammar in the french and spanish languages is that of Josse, lately published, and to which is added a course of exercises: the rules are perspicuous and easy, and each under its proper head; the exercises judiciously drawn up, and the greatest difficulties illustrated by notes, etc. If any choose to pursue the study of the spanish language through the medium of the french, he will find the way very clear by making use of Josse's French and Spanish Grammar, etc. The New London Review, December, 1799. This Grammar possesses considerable merit with respect to a judicious arrangement of the rules of syntax, and those relative to pronunciation, as sanctioned by the Academy of Madrid. The course of themes is well chosen, and calculated to promote the practical knowledge of the student in the spanish language. |
