AN ACT to make appropriations for the state highway department for the fiscal years ending June thirtieth, nineteen hundred twenty-eight, and June thirtieth, nineteen hundred. twenty-nine, for certain specific purposes, and to designate the source from which money so appropriated shall be paid.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

AN ACT to make appropriations for the department of agriculture for the fiscal years ending June thirtieth, nineteen hundred twenty-eight, and June thirtieth, nineteen hundred twenty-nine, for maintenance, operation and payment of premiums of the annual state fair.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated from the general fund for the department of agriculture for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, nineteen hundred twenty-eight, the sum of seventy-five thousand dollars, and for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, nineteen hundred twenty-nine, the sum of seventy-five thousand dollars, for the purposes and in the following amounts:

AN ACT authorizing the state highway commissioner of the state of Michigan to enter into an agreement with the Wisconsin state highway commission to construct an interstate bridge project extending from approximately the intersection of Ogden avenue and Chandler street in the city of Menominee, Michigan, in a straight line terminating at the approximate center of Dunlap square in the city of Marinette, Wisconsin, and to provide for the cost and expense thereof.

AN ACT to amend section twelve of act number three hundred sixty-nine of the public acts of nineteen hundred nineteen, entitled "An act to supplement existing laws providing for the establishment and maintenance of municipal courts of record and defining the jurisdiction of such courts; to fix the number of judges thereof; to provide a presiding judge; to define the privileges of such presiding judge; to modify the procedure in and extend the jurisdiction of said courts in certain respects, and to provide for the abolishing of any police courts or other courts not of record having exclusive criminal jurisdiction existing in any city in which the provisions of this act become operative", and to provide for the adoption of this act by popular vote in municipalities before it shall become operative.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. Section twelve of act number three hundred sixty-nine of the public acts of nineteen hundred nineteen, entitled "An act to supplement existing laws providing for the establishment and maintenance of municipal courts of record and defining the jurisdiction of such courts; to fix the number of judges thereof; to provide a presiding judge; to define the privileges of such presiding judge; to modify the procedure in and extend the jurisdiction of said courts in certain respects, and to provide for the abolishing of any police courts or other courts not of record having exclusive criminal jurisdiction existing in any city in which the provisions of this act become operative," is hereby amended to read as follows:

SEC. 12. The procedure in all cases where motion is made for a new trial shall be the same as is provided for under the general laws of this state for circuit courts. In cases cognizable by justices of the peace under the state law, motions for new trial shall be filed within fifteen days from rendition of judgment and shall be determined within ten days after said Proceedings motion shall have been filed. Upon the filing of a motion for new trial in such cases all further proceedings shall be stayed, and the court may order the release of the defendant upon his filing a bond in such amount and in such form as may be fixed and approved by the court. In cases cognizable by justices of the peace under the state law, motions for new trial shall be heard by the presiding judge or shall be assigned by him to some judge other than the one who sat in the trial of such cause. In such cases the defendant shall file with his motion for new trial before the date set for the hearing thereof a complete transcript of the testimony taken upon the original trial of said cause. Motions for new trial in such cases shall not be granted as a matter of right but shall be granted only for good cause shown in the same manner as is provided by law in cases

AN ACT to regulate the buying and selling of poultry; to aid in the detection of and prevention of crime in the purchase and sale of poultry, and to provide a penalty therefor.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. Any person, firm or corporation engaged in Record of the business of purchasing poultry for the purpose of resale purchases, shall keep a record of the date of each such purchase, the name and residence of the seller, kind of poultry purchased and the description and number thereof, whether such poultry was raised by the seller or purchased from others, and if purchased from others, then the name of the person from whom the same was purchased by the seller and the date of such purchase, and if the seller delivers such poultry by means of automobile or other vehicle having a license thereon, then the number of such license.

SEC. 2. The seller shall at the time of making sale of any Duty of poultry as provided in the preceding section, truthfully state seller. all of the facts as aforesaid; shall sign his name to such statement and shall certify to the correctness thereof.

It shall be the duty of said secretary of state to furnish said blanks free of cost to the applicant upon demand; and all purchasers of poultry as herein before designated, shall order and keep on hand a supply of such blanks.
