To pay members of the Board of Examiners of Dominion
Land Surveyors, stationery, rent of rooms and contingent
expenses of the Board (the authority required by the
Civil Service Act is hereby given for paying out of this
vote such sums as may be required to pay for services of
members of the Board who are also members of the Civil
Service).

To pay salaries of extra clerks at Head Office, Ottawa, advertising, copying, etc

To provide for the salary of one carpenter

CHAP. 4.

An Act further to amend the Act respecting the Senate and House of Commons.

[Assented to 5th October, 1896.]

HER Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the

Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as

follows:

1. For the present session of Parliament, the deduction of Days of abeight dollars per day mentioned in section twenty-six of the sence during Act respecting the Senate and House of Commons, being chapter sion. eleven of the Revised Statutes, shall not be made for eight days in the case of a member who has been absent from sitting of the House of which he is a member, or of some committee thereof, during such number of days; but this provision Proviso shall not operate to extend the maximum amount mentioned in section twenty-five of the said Act, nor in the case of a member elected since the commencement of the present session shall it apply to days prior to his election.

An Act to amend the North-west Territories Representation Act by dispensing with the preparation of new Voters' Lists in certain cases.

ER Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

6. The said Act is hereby further amended by adding as section forty-four thereof in lieu of the section repealed by section fourteen of chapter fifteen of the Statutes of 1894, the following:

"44. The deputy returning officer shall, while the poll is open, if required by any person whose name is not on the voters' list, administer to such person oath number one in the said form P; and such oath having been taken, the deputy returning officer shall at once cause such person's name to be added to the voters' list with the word 'sworn' written thereafter."

7. The form substituted for form L in the schedule to the said first cited Act by section thirteen of chapter fifteen of the Statutes of 1894 is hereby amended by striking out the words "division containing" in the fourth paragraph thereof, and substituting therefor the words "white circular space opposite."
