"Faust." Madlle. Pauline Lucca, who appeared twice at the end of last season in "Les Huguenots," and created a marked sensation, will play for the first time Cherubino in "Le Nozze de Figaro," Margherita in "Faust," Mrs. Ford in Nicolai's opera (new to this country), the “ Merry Wives of Windsor," and Catherine in "L'Etoile du Nord." Madlle. Emilia Lagrua will will make her début on the opening night in "Norma." Among other great parts, she will perform the principal character in Verdi's "La Forza del Destino." The following performers of note will appear for the first time during the season:-) :-Madlle. Destinn (from Vienna), Madlle. Tati (from Lisbon), Madlle. Garulli (from Milan), Signor Scalese (from Paris), Signor Attri (from Florence), and Herr Schmidt (from Vienna). Herr Wachtel, who appeared a few times in 1862, will sustain, for the first time here, the parts of Manrico, in "Il Trovatore;" Arnoldo, in "Guillaume Tell;" and John of Leyden, in "Le Prophète." In addition to these new engagements, the principal members of the company in former seasous-Madlle. Marie Battu, Madlle. Antonietta Fricci, Madame Didiée, Signor Ronconi, Signor Tamberlik, M. Faure, Signor Graziani, M. Naudin, Signor Mario, Signor and Madame Tagliafico, Madame Rudersdorff, Signor Lucchesi, and Signor Neri-Baraldi—are all retained. Mr. Costa, we need scarcely add, retains his post at the head of the orchestra. The season commences on Tuesday, March 29, and the subscription will consist of forty nights. The performance will be four times a week-Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

HER MAJESTY'S THEATRE.-Mr. Mapleson inaugurates his third season at this establishment on Saturday, April 9. The company, as appears from the list of engagements, will include the established favourites of last season, together with other performers of European celebrity who have not hitherto appeared in England. Of the members of last year's company there are:

Soprani and contralti-Titiens, Volpini, Trebelli, and Taccani ; tenors-Giuglini, Volpini, and Bettini; baritones and bassesGassier, Fagotti, and Santley. The principal new engagements are:-Soprani-Vitali (from Bologna), Lubhart and Wippern (from Berlin), and Bettleheim (from Vienna); tenor-Francelli (from Naples); bassi-Mazetti and Junca. Several wellknown operas are to be produced for the first time in England; Verdi's latest opera, La Forza del Destino," is onc of them. Mr. Mapleson says "the orchestral scoreparts and right of representation of this work were secured in 1863;" but our readers will have seen that this is one of the operas announced by Mr. Gye, so that the right to produce it seems to be a matter of dispute between the rival managers. The most remarkable novelty forthcoming at this theatre, is Wagner's Tannhauser," the merits of which form a subject of controversy throughout the whole musical world. But it is an opera of unbounded popularity in Germany, and draws crowds at all the principal theatres of that country; its production here will therefore excite great interest. The Merry Wives of Windsor will also be produced here as well as at the other house. hoven's "Fidelio," Meyerbeer's "Robert le Diable," and Weber's Freischütz," are in the list of operas to be produced; and Donizetti's" Anna Bolena," is to be revived, after an interval of twenty years, It appears that the ballet, for which this theatre has always been pre-eminent, will not be neglected. A number of new dancers of both sexes, and several new ballets are announced. The orchestra will continue to be under the able direction of Signor Arditi. The subscription will consist of either thirty or forty nights at the option of the abonnés. The terms appear to be the same as formerly. The theatre will open on the 9th with Verdi's masterpiece Rigoletto." Madlle. Vitali will make her

At DRURY LANE, Shakespeare's play entitled the "First Part of Henry the Fourth" will be revived, on Easter Monday, on a scale of unexampled grandeur and completeness. Great pains have been taken to render this production worthy of our national theatre, and a fitting tribute to the genius of that great writer who was not for an age but for all time. Mr. W. Beverley has painted some elaborate and effective scenery, and the costumes and armour have been fashioned from designs taken by Mr. R. W. Keene from illustrated MSS. of the period. No expense will be spared to render the piece successful as a spectacle, and the following "cast" should be a guarantee for the excellence of the acting:Henry the Fourth, Mr. Ryder; Prince of Wales, Mr. Walter Lacy; Hotspur, Mr. Walter Montgomery; and Falstaff, Mr. Phelps. The rest of the characters are supported by Mr. Robert

PRINCESS'S. Mr. Vining produces a new farce, by Mr. J. Madison Morton, entitled " Drawing-room, Second Floor, and Attic." Of course he relies principally on the great and increasing attraction of Watts Phillips's drama, "Paul's Return," and Shakespeare's "Comedy of Errors." In the latter piece, which has not inaptly been designated a Shakespearian farce, the performance of the Brothers Webb as the Brothers Dromeo is replete with genuine humour. The play derives an additional interest from the fact that it is with the Brothers Webb as with the brothers in Shakespeare's comedy
