$61.31 to $70.50, an increase of $9.19. The decrease of 175 in the population is an important factor in accounting for the per capita increase.

The New York State Hospital for Incipient Pulmonary Tuberculosis at Ray Brook decreased the expenditure for provisions from $37,140.69 to $35,089.44, a decrease of $2,051.25. The per capita expenditure decreased from $223.67 to $221.30, a decrease of $2.37.

At the Rome State Custodial Asylum, the expenditure for provisions decreased from $39,397.55 to $37,470.39, a decrease of $1,927.16. The per capita decreased from $39.01 to $35.23, a decrease of $3.78.

At the Craig Colony for Epileptics at Sonyea, the expenditure for provisions increased from $60,921.82 to $63,637.24, an increase of $2,715.42. The per capita decreased but $.01, it being $47.83 as compared with $47.84 for the preceding year.

At the Syracuse State Institution for Feeble-Minded Children, the expenditure for provisions increased from $24,243.14 to $25,846.47, an increase of $1,603.33. The per capita increased from $46.83 to $48.71, an increase of $1.88.

At the New York State Hospital for the Care of Crippled and Deformed Children at West Haverstraw, the expenditure for provisions increased from $3,847.79 to $4,627.79, an increase of $780. The per capita increased from $83.05 to $96.47, an increase of $13.42. The increase is due to the additional allowances of food supplies, such as bread stuffs, cheese, meats, fish and milk.

HOUSEHOLD STORES.

At the Western House of Refuge for Women at Albion, the expenditure for household stores increased from $978.27 to $1,462.51, an increase of $484.24. The per capita expenditure increased from $4.26 to $6.61, an increase of $2.35.

At the New York State School for the Blind at Batavia, the expenditure for household stores increased from $548.22 to $786.39, an increase of $238.17. The per capita increased from $5.40 to $7.91, an increase of $2.51. This increase is due in part to the purchase of items under this division of the estimate which were formerly bought out of the Special Fund appropriations.

At the New York State Soldiers' and Sailors' Home at Bath, the expenditure for household stores increased from $5,393.91 to $5,856.26, an increase of $462.35. The per capita increased from $2.91 to $3.30, an increase of 39 cents.

At the New York State Reformatory for Women at Bedford, the expenditure for household stores increased from $1,537.25 to $2,126.53, an increase of $589.28. The per capita increased from $5.02 to $6.61, an increase of $1.59. This increase is due in large part to the fact that during the preceding year the purchase of many items were deferred until the next year owing to the low state of the funds.

At the New York State Reformatory at Elmira, the expenditure for household stores increased from $3,885.46 to $4,772.00, an increase of $886.54. The per capita expenditure increased from $2.54 to $3.77, an increase of $1.23. The increase is explained in part by the purchase of soap materials for the institution's own use separately and not in connection with the industries as formerly, and in part by the replacing of more worn out articles than was done last year.

At the New York State Training School for Girls at Hudson, the expenditure for household stores increased from $2,094.06 to $2,553.10, an increase of $459.04. The per capita increased from $7.05 to $7.62, an increase of 57 cents.

At the State Agricultural and Industrial School at Industry, the expenditure for household stores increased from $4,139.17 to $5,376.42, an increase of $1,237.25. The per capita expenditure increased from $6.84 to $8.92, an increase of $2.08.

At the Thomas Indian School at Iroquois, the expenditure for household stores decreased from $994.59 to $952.98, a decrease of $41.61. The per capita expenditure decreased from $7.09 to $6.68, a decrease of 41 cents.

At the Eastern New York Reformatory at Napanoch the expenditure for household stores decreased from $1,116.22 to $840.10, a decrease of $276.12. The per capita expenditure decreased from $2.48 to $2.00, a decrease of 48 cents.

At the New York State Custodial Asylum for Feeble-Minded Women at Newark, the expenditure for household stores increased from $3,742.26 to $5,111.68, an increase of $1,369.42.

The per capita increased from $4.96 to $6.45, an increase of $1.49.

At the New York State Woman's Relief Corps Home at Oxford, the expenditure for household stores decreased from $805.16 to $773.77, a decrease of $31.39. The per capita expenditure decreased from $4.35 to $4.24, a decrease of 11 cents.

At the New York House of Refuge at Randall's Island the expenditure for household stores increased from $3,254.95 to $3,825.28, an increase of $570.33. The per capita expenditure increased from $4.79 to $7.57, an increase of $2.78.

At the New York State Hospital for the Treatment of Incipient Pulmonary Tuberculosis at Ray Brook, the expenditure for household stores increased from $1,623.29 to $2,144.07, an increase of $520.78. The per capita expenditure increased from $9.78 to $13.52, an increase of $3.74. An important factor in accounting for this increase is the purchase of items under this division of the estimate, to replace those which have become worn out and which have not been renewed since the institution was opened.

At the Rome State Custodial Asylum the expenditure for household stores decreased from $12,285.51 to $7,054.58, a decrease of $5,230.93. The per capita expenditure decreased from $12.17 to $6.63, a decrease of $5.54. This decrease is explained when it is remembered that last year's figures involved an expenditure to overcome fire losses, whereas the expenditures this year are slightly more than normal. The per capita for household stores for the year ending September 30, 1908, was $5.29.

At the Craig Colony for Epileptics at Sonyea, the expenditure for household stores increased from $6,970.02 to $10,734.74, an increase of $3,764.72. The per capita expenditure increased from $5.47 to $8.07, an increase of $2.60. This increase is accounted for in large part by reason of the purchase of items under maintenance that were formerly purchased under special fund appropriations.

At the Syracuse State Institution for Feeble-Minded Children, the expenditure for household stores increased from $3,609.26 to $3,663.74, an increase of $54.48. The per capita expenditure decreased from $6.97 to $6.91, a decrease of six cents.
