Population September 30, 1910.

During the year Cottage No. 7, for which ground was broken on March 8, 1909, was completed and opened for occupancy. Cottage No. 8, which is practically the same as Cottage No. 7, was commenced in March, 1910, and at the close of the fiscal year was nearly completed.

A new sewage disposal system was constructed and piping installed for fire pressure purposes. The north end of the administration building has been remodeled, to the decided advantage of the work that has to be done there.

A steam conduit from the main conduit to the laundry was built. This conduit is 200 feet long by 4 feet, inside dimensions, with arched roof and 5-inch I beams built into the walls for supporting the pipe, and with a 6-foot square man hole. With the exception of a carpenter to make the frames this conduit was built entirely by inmate labor.

The construction of a sanitary pig pen by inmate labor was begun during the year and was well progressed. The foundation floors and the lower three feet of the wall are made of concrete, while the upper portion of the building and the roof are of wood, the woodwork being done by the institution carpenter, with one or two assistants.

A number of other minor improvements have been made during the year from the appropriation for repairs and equipment.
