COMMON PRAYER

FOR MORNING AND EVENING USE.

Invocations.

Sunday Morning.

LORD GOD of hosts, hear our prayers: give ear, O God of Jacob. Behold, O God, our shield, and look upon the face of Thine anointed. For a day in Thy courts is better than a thousand. We had rather be doorkeepers in the house of our God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Sunday Evening.

OH come, let us worship and bow down : let us kneel

before the Lord our maker. For He is our God; and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. To-day, if we will hear His voice; let us not harden our hearts, as in the day of provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness.

Monday Morning.

Our

GIVE ear unto our words, O Lord, consider our meditations. Hearken unto the voice of our cry, our King and our God for unto Thee will we pray. voice shalt Thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will we direct our prayers unto Thee, and will look up.

Monday Evening.

HEAR us when we call, O God of our righteousness; Thou hast enlarged us when we were in distress. Have mercy upon us, and hear our prayers.

Tuesday Morning.

HEAR the right, O Lord, attend unto our cry.

Give

ear unto our prayers, that go not out of feigned lips. Let our sentences come forth from Thy presence; let Thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

Tuesday Evening.

UNTO Thee, O Lord, do we lift up our souls. O our

God, we trust in Thee: let us not be ashamed, let not our enemies triumph over us. Yea, let none that wait on Thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

Wednesday Morning.

UNTO Thee will we cry, O Lord our rock; be not

silent unto us: lest if Thou be silent unto us, we become like unto them that go down into the pit. Hear the voice of our supplications when we cry unto Thee, when we lift our hands towards Thy holy oracle.

GIVE

Wednesday Evening.

ear unto our prayers, O God, and hide not Thyself from our supplications. Attend unto us and hear us. Evening, and morning, and at noon will we pray and cry aloud; and Thou shalt hear our voices.

Thursday Morning.

GOD, Thou art our God; early will we seek Thee:

our souls thirst for Thee, our flesh longeth for Thee, in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; to see Thy power and Thy glory, so as we have seen Thee in the sanctuary.

Thursday Evening.

BOW down Thine ear, O Lord, hear us: for we are poor and needy. Preserve our souls; for we are holy. O Thou our God, save Thy servants that trust in Thee. Be merciful unto us, O Lord, for we cry unto Thee daily.

Friday Morning.

HEAR our prayers, O Lord, and let our cry come unto Thee. Hide not Thy face from us in the day when we are in trouble. Incline Thine ear unto us: in the day when we call answer us speedily.

Friday Evening.

HEAR our prayers, O Lord; give ear to our supplications in Thy faithfulness answer us, and in Thy righteousness. And enter not into judgment with Thy servants; for in Thy sight shall no man living be justified.

Saturday Morning.

UNTO Thee lift we up our eyes, O Thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that He have mercy upon us.

Saturday Evening.

WE will lift up our eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh our help. Our help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer our feet to be moved. He that keepeth us will not slumber. Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

To be used in Times of Trouble.

Morning.

MY GOD! my God! why hast Thou forsaken us? why art Thou so far from helping us, and from the words of our roaring? O our God, we cry in the day-time, but Thou hearest not; and in the night season, and are not silent. Be not far from us, for trouble is near, for there is none to help.

Evening.

BOW down Thine ear to us; deliver us speedily. Be

Thou our strong rock, for an house of defence to save us. For Thou art our rock and our fortress, therefore for Thy name's sake lead us and guide us. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, for we are in trouble.

To be used in Times of Rejoicing.

Morning.

PRAISE waiteth for Thee, O God, in Zion, and unto Thee shall the vow be performed. O Thou that hearest prayer, unto Thee shall all flesh come. Iniquities prevail against us; as for our transgressions Thou shalt purge them away.

Evening.

BECAUSE Thy loving-kindness is better than life, our lips shall praise Thee. Thus will we bless Thee while we live we will lift up our hands in Thy name. Our souls shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and our mouths shall praise Thee with joyful lips.

Adoration.

Sunday Morning.

LORD our God, Thou art a God of gods, and Lord of lords; a great God, mighty and terrible, and Thou regardest not persons, nor dost Thou take rewards. Thou dost execute the judgment of the fatherless and the widow, and thou lovest the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.

Sunday Evening.

LORD, Thou reignest, Thou art clothed with strength wherewith Thou hast girded Thyself, Thou art clothed with majesty, Thou hast established the world also that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old; Thou art from_everlasting. floods lift up their waves; Thou, Lord on high, art mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

Monday Morning.

AMONG the gods there is none like unto Thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto Thy works. All nations whom Thou hast made shall come and worship before Thee, O Lord, and shall glorify Thy name.

Monday Evening.

THOU art God, and there is none like Thee, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, Thy counsel shall stand, and that Thou wilt do all Thy pleasure; yea, Thou hast spoken it, and Thou wilt also bring it to pass; Thou hast purposed it. and Thou wilt also do it.
