ALMIGHTY GOD, who hast promised to hear the petitions of them that ask in thy Son's name, we beseech Thee mercifully to incline thine ears to us that have made now our prayers and supplications unto Thee; and grant that those things which we have faithfully asked according to thy will, may effectually be obtained to the relief of our necessity, and to the setting forth of thy glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE BLESSING.

THE peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ, our Lord. And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be amongst you, and remain with you always. Amen.

PRAYER.

MAY the blessing of thy peace, O Lord, rest upon us this day and for ever. May the remembrance of our Saviour's love be ever present to our minds, and may the influence of the Holy Spirit continually accompany us, directing and sanetifying every thought and deed; and when Christ shall come again in his glorious Majesty to judge the world, may we be found acceptable in thy sight, and be numbered with thy saints in glory everlasting, through his merits and mediation, who liveth ever with Thee and the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Occasional Prayers.

PRAYER FROM BISHOP WILSON.

BLESSED JESUS! who loved us, and washed us from our sins, and purchased us by thy own blood, and didst ordain this sacrament, in order to secure us to thyself, by a grateful remembrance of what thou hast done and suffered for us, make us, I beseech Thee, truly sensible of thy love, and of our own wretched condition, which did require such a sacrifice.

May I always receive this offer of thy mercy, pardon, and grace, with a thankful heart, and in remembrance of Thee, my great and best benefactor, of thy holy example, thy heavenly doctrine, thy bitter passion and death, thy glorious resurrection and ascension into heaven, and thy coming again to judge the world.

Grant that I may never forget the obli

gation Thou hast laid upon me to live as becomes thy disciple, and to forsake every course of life contrary to thy Gospel. Let me never presume upon thy gracious promises, without sincerely endeavouring to perform the conditions upon which they were made. Give me that true repentance to which thou hast promised forgiveness of sins; and grace, for the time to come, to dedicate my life to Thee, and to embrace every opportunity of securing Thy favour and my own salvation, by imitating the example Thou hast set me, in purity, humility, self-denial, and resignation, and in goodwill to all mankind.

O Lord and Father, I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies which Thou hast showed thy servant, neither can I render due thanks and praises unto thee;

but 1 beseech thee to accept of such acknowledgment of all thy mercies as I can give. Especially I thank thee for this instance of thy love to fallen mankind, in sending thy son Jesus Christ to save us from the penalty of our sins. Grant, O God, that this wonderful love may not be lost upon me, but that, knowing my sad condition by nature, I may ever be truly convinced of the necessity and blessing of a Redeemer, and that I may, with a heart full of gratitude, join always with thy Church in giving my devoutest thanks to thee, and in keeping up the remembrance of what thy blessed Son has done and suffered for mankind. Make the love and fear of thee the governing principles of my whole life, that I may always do what I believe will please thee, carefully avoid what I know will offend thee, and live as having thee the constant witness of my thoughts, words, and actions. Give me a stedfast faith in thy word and promises, and a firm trust in thy power. Let the fear of thy justice keep me from presumption, and a sense of thy
