“SPRINGTIME:

A Magazine for our Young Men and Maidens.

TWOPENCE, MONTHLY.

WHILE all other classes of our people are fairly well providel for in our present periodicals, it cannot be considered satisfactory that our Young Men and Maidens, upon whom the present and future interests of the Connexion are so largely dependent, are obliged to go outside our own community to find magazine reading suited to their age and taste. Influenced by this and other weighty considerations, and trusting to the loyal co-operation of our ministers, officials, and members, the Book Committee have resolved to start a new Magazine, with the above name, in January, 1886. Each number will contain 32 pages, 8vo. size, double columns, and be printed on good thick paper, illustrated with choice engravings, and sold for twopence. We intend SPRINGTIME to be a thoroughly good Magazine, got up in attractive style, and likely in every way to interest, instruct, and inspire our Young Men and Maidens, and prove helpfu to them in forming a high personal character, and living a truly noble life.

PROGRAMME OF VOLUME FIRST.

1. Mark Maskell: A Life Story.
2. Papers on the Personal Culture of our
Young Men and Maidens, Intel-
lectual, Moral, Religious, Social,
and Domestic.

3. How can I prove Religion to be
Divine? Chapters on the Christian
Evidences adapted to the Tunes.

4. Life Scenes in Biole Lands.

5. What can I do for Christ? The Young Christian's Heart-cry.

6. The Pith of Mental, Moral, and Physical Science.

7. The Elements of Theology.

8. Epoch Scenes in History.

9. Temperance Principles, and their Practical Application.

[blocks in formation]

N.B.—As the new Magazine is started for the special benefit of the ycung men and young women connected with our schools and congregations, and as all it contains will have special reference to their wants and aspirations, we look to them with confidence, not unmixed with anxiety, for a generous support. Let them heartily respond to our appeal, and success is certain,

A Specimen copy will be sent post free on receipt of 24d. in stamps.
