The Board of Harbor Commissioners respectfully submits its twenty-ninth annual report.

APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD.

Under the provision of Chapter 809 of the General Laws, passed January 29, 1901, making a change in the time of appointment of members of this board, His Excellency the Governor, with the advice and consent of the senate, re-appointed Henry T. Root, of Providence, to serve as harbor commissioner for a further term of three years or "until the first day of February in the third year after his appointment," to wit, February 1, 1907.

HARBOR LINES.

Surveys and plans in Warren river and Narragansett bay from Main street bridge in Warren to North Point in Bristol have been made to furnish information for the establishment of harbor lines. The studies for this purpose are not completed, and the harbor lines are yet to be designed. Petitions for the granting of licenses to build wharves and the petition of the Builders' Iron Foundry for the establishment of harbor lines lead the Commissioners to the opinion that such lines should be determined upon at an early day.

ADVISORY BOARD.

In the year 1876, soon after the organization of this board, in their first year of service, they asked for the appointment of an advisory
