RESOLUTION approving the harbor line in Seekonk river, in the city of Providence, pursuant to the foregoing report.

[In senate, passed June 1, 1877.]

Resolved, That the harbor line, as marked and platted by the harbor commissioners, as appears by their report made this day, is hereby approved. (Approved by the Governor.)

REPORT OF THE HARBOR COMMISSIONERS UPON HARBOR LINES IN A PORTION OF SEEKONK RIVER, IN THE CITY OF PROVIDENCE, AND IN PAWTUCKET RIVER, IN THE TOWN OF PAWTUCKET.

To His Excellency the Governor, and the Honorable Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations:

The undersigned respectfully report that in accordance with Chapter 556 of the Public Laws, passed April 20, 1876, they, acting as harbor commissioners, have marked out and platted the following lines, which they deem suitable to be established as harbor lines, to wit:

First. From Bower street to Red bridge on the west side of Seekonk river beginning at a point in line with the southerly boundary line of Bower street, extended 182.48 feet easterly from the southeast corner of Gano and Bower streets, and running northerly in a direction to enclose an angle of 79° 24′ between said line on the westerly side thereof and the southerly line of Bower street, a distance of 305.47 feet, to a point on the northerly line of Trenton street, extended easterly 126.29 feet from the northeasterly corner of Gano and Trenton streets; thence running north, more easterly, at an angle of 172° 54′ 07′′ with the last named line, a distance of 200.635 feet to a point on the southerly line of Transit street extended easterly 114.03 feet from the southeasterly corner of Gano and Transit streets; thence running north, more easterly, at an angle of 162° 39′ 53′′ with the last named line, a distance of 257.67 feet to a point on the southerly line of Fremont street extended easterly 175.64 feet from the southeasterly corner of Gano and Fremont streets; thence running north, more easterly, at an angle of 151° 44′ 50° with the last named line, a distance of 336.93 feet to a point on the southerly line of Williams street extended 401.47 feet easterly from the southeasterly corner of Gano and Williams streets; thence running north, more easterly, at an angle of 158° 03′ 36′′ with the last mentioned line, a distance of about 2,409.04 feet; thence running north, more westerly, at an angle of

157° 11' 04" with the last named line, a distance of 125.915 feet to the southeast corner of the top of the westerly abutment of Red or Central bridge, and enclosing an angle of 88° 39′ 50′′ on the easterly side of said harbor line, with the southerly line of said bridge. All as shown upon a plat of harbor lines in Seekonk river designed by the harbor commissioners, and on file in their office.

Second. In Pawtucket, on the west side of the river, beginning at the hightide line at the foot of the Main street falls, and following the line of mean high water in a southerly direction to the northeast corner of the river wall of the mill of James and Joseph T. Greene, which said point is distant 120.10 feet from the southwest corner of Darius Goff's old mill on the east side of the river; and thence running southerly a distance of 74.24 feet along the face of said wall of James and Joseph T. Greene's mill to the southeast corner thereof, which said corner is distant 131.06 feet from the southwest corner of Darius Goff's old mill before mentioned; thence running southerly, more easterly, at an angle of 179° 53′ 35′′ with the last mentioned line 571.27 feet along the top of the face of the river wall and crossing the break in said wall at the town landing to the angle in the river wall at the south side of said town landing; which said point is distant 145.69 feet from the nearest point in the harbor line on the east side of the river, which is hereinafter described; thence running southerly, more easterly, at an angle of 172° 33′ 16′′ with the last named line, 95.47 feet to a point distant 148.42 feet from the nearest point of the harbor line on the east side of the river, which is hereinafter described; thence running southerly, more easterly, at an angle of 178° 55′ 45′′ with the last named line, 256.90 feet to a point distant 161.24 feet from the nearest point of the harbor line on the east side of the river; thence running southerly, more easterly, at an angle of 159° 57′ 04′′ with the last named line, 277.21 feet to a point distant 153.50 feet from an angle, at the Division street bridge, in the harbor line of the east side of the river; thence running southerly, more easterly, on a curve, tangent to the last named line, of 317.60 feet radius, a distance of 216.82 feet; thence southerly, more westerly, on a curve of 429.17 feet radius, tangent to the last named curve, a distance of 163.14 feet to a point distant 122.48 feet from the third angle, south of Division street bridge, in the harbor line of the east side of the river; thence running southerly on a line tangent to the last named curve, 207.59 feet to the southeast corner of Smith Grant & Co.'s wharf, which said point is distant 116.96 feet from the southerly end of the curve in the harbor line of the east side of the river; thence running southerly, more westerly, at an angle of 174° 09′ 22′′ with the last named line 80.78 feet to the northeast corner of the southerly wharf of Smith Grant & Co.; thence running southerly, more easterly, 30.77 feet, at an angle of 174° 20′ 15′′ with the last named line; thence southerly, more westerly, 120.50 feet, at an angle of 178° 51′ 22′′ with the last named line; thence southerly, more easterly, 188.47 feet, at an

angle of 175° 24′ 00′′ with the last named line, to the southeast corner of the southerly wharf of Smith Grant & Co., which said point is distant 364.40 feet from the third angle south of the curve in the harbor line of the east side of the river; thence running southerly, more easterly, at an angle of 172° 18′ 28′′ with the last named line, 362.84 feet, to the southeast corner of Cushman, Wilcox & Co.'s wharf, which said point is distant 302.45 feet from the angle "d," referred to in the description of the harbor line of the east side of the river; thence running southerly, more westerly, at an angle of 130° 30′ 31′′ with the last named line, 68.89 feet to a point on the northeasterly corner of a wharf; thence running southerly, more easterly, 139.19 feet along the line of said wharf at an angle of 155° 49′ 13′′ with the last named line; thence easterly 192.47 feet along the northerly face of Wm. T. Adams' wharf, at an angle of 105° 31' with the last named line, to a point on the range of a line 10 feet from the easterly face of said wharf and parallel therewith; which said point is 205.82 feet distant from the nearest point of the harbor line of the east side of the river; thence running southerly, more westerly, at an angle of 103° 42′ 48′′ with the last named line, 2,078.06 feet to a point distant 352.02 feet from the nearest point in the harbor line of the east side of the river.

Third. In Pawtucket, on the east side of the river, beginning at the high tide line at the foot of the Main street falls, and following the line of mean high water in a southerly direction to the southwest corner of Darius Goff's old mill, which said point is distant 120.10 feet from the northeast corner of James and Joseph T. Greene's mill, hereinbefore described; thence running southerly 215.26 feet to a point at the top of the face of the river wall opposite to the southwest corner of Darius Goff's new mill, which said point is distant 97.42 feet from the nearest point of the harbor line of the west side of the river, as is hereinbefore described; thence running southerly, more easterly, at an angle of 172° 51′ 50′′ with the last named line 117.81 feet to the end of the top of the face of the river wall as now built, which said point is distant 100.39 feet from the nearest point of the harbor line of the west side of the river; thence running southerly, more easterly, at an angle of 172° 21′ 23′′ with the last named line 513.71 feet to a point distant 149.85 feet from the nearest point of the harbor line of the west side of the river; thence running southerly, more easterly, at an angle of 174° 28′ 40′′ with the last named line 209.72 feet, to a point distant 129.71 feet from the nearest point in the harbor line of the west side of the river; thence running southerly, more easterly, at an angle of 156° 25′ 30′′ with the last named line 140.99 feet, to a point under the Division street bridge, distant 153.50 feet from the northerly tangent point of the first mentioned curve in the harbor line of the west side of the river; thence running southerly, more westerly, at an angle of 179° 41′ 40′′ with the last named line 109.00 feet to a point distant 130.65 feet from the point of tangency of the

two curves in the harbor line of the west side of the river; thence running south-
erly, more easterly, at an angle of 162° 35′ with the last named line 77.80 feet to
the southerly end of the top of the face of the river wall; thence running southerly,
more westerly, along the face of said wharf, at an angle of 168° 46′ 05′′ with the
last named line 145.77 feet, to a point distant 105.36 feet from the nearest point
of the harbor line of the west side of the river; thence running southerly, more
easterly, on a curve tangent to the last named line; said curve being 265.80 feet
radius, a distance of 94.46 feet, to an angle in the river wall distant 116.96 feet
from the southeast corner of Smith Grant & Co.'s northerly wharf, which said
corner is a point in the harbor line of the west side of the river; thence running
southerly, more easterly, 43.20 feet, making an angle of 73° 50′ 55′′ on the easterly
side of this harbor line, with the radius of the last named curve at its southerly
end; thence running southerly, more westerly, at an angle of 175° 59′ 30′′ with
the last named line 22.17 feet; thence running southerly, more easterly, at an
angle of 168° 34′ 30′′ with the last named line 118.85 feet, to a point on the edge
of the wharf 364.40 feet distant from the southeasterly corner of the southerly
wharf of Smith Grant & Co., which said corner is a point in the harbor line of the
west side of the river; thence running southerly, more westerly, at an angle of
152° 33′ 13′′ with the last named line 646.48 feet, to the point marked "d" on the
accompanying map of harbor lines, which said point is distant 302.45 feet from
the southeast corner of Cushman, Wilcox & Co.'s wharf, which said corner is a
point in the harbor line of the west side of the river; thence running southerly,
more westerly, at an angle of 165° 46′ 02′′ with the last named line 926.57 feet,
to a point 359.05 feet distant from the nearest point in the harbor line of the west
side of the river; thence running southerly, more westerly, at an angle of 165°
33' 44" with the last named line 465.54 feet, to the northwest corner of Jacob
Dunnell & Co.'s wharf, which said corner is distant 360.57 feet from the nearest
point in the harbor line of the west side of the river; thence running southerly,
more westerly, at an angle of 173° 28′ 50′′ with the last named line 170.36 feet,
to an angle in the aforesaid wharf of Jacob Dunnell & Co., distant 342.09 feet
from the nearest point of the harbor line of the west side of the river; thence
running southerly, more easterly, at an angle of 156° 22' with the last named
line 26.52 feet to the southwest corner of the aforesaid wharf of Jacob Dunnell
& Co., which said corner is distant 349.82 feet from the nearest point of the harbor
line of the west side of the river; thence running southerly, more westerly, at an
angle of 164° 42′ 55′′ with the last named line 1,394.35 feet, to a point near Bass
Rock, distant 636.53 feet from the southerly end of the harbor line of the west
side of this river.

All as shown upon a plat of harbor lines in Pawtucket river, designed January
17, 1878, by the harbor commissioners, and on file in their office.

Having given notice of times and the place for hearing all persons interested in said harbor lines, by publishing the same in the Providence Journal, thirty days previous thereto, hearings were held, and parties interested in the shore property for nearly the whole distance affected by these lines appeared and favored the lines as now submitted for approval.

The harbor commissioners, therefore, recommend that the aforesaid lines be confirmed and established as harbor lines.
