To Foppa's ancient Haven thence they bring,
Not unrewarded by the Hebrew King.
All things prepar'd, see the vaft Fabrick rise,
And from the Center haften to the Skies;
In three fair Stories wrought, ftately and tall,
Marble the Columns, Marble was the Wall:
The House with Cedar floor'd, with Cedar lin'd,
And all with flaming Gold profufely shin'd:
So richly carv'd that Nature owns, compel'd,
She here is by her Hand-maid Art excel'd.
But who th' amazing Splendor dares reveal,
Which myftic Veils from mortal Eyes conceal?
Those bright Cherubic Forms which guard the
Place,

Thofe menial Angels who attend and gaze!
---At fafer diftance from the Throne retire!

Those wide and everlasting Gates admire!
Those Pillars which the Pyramids furpass;
The Mould how curious, and how rich the Brafs!
Behold yon Sea, which scarce admits a Shore,
And Rivers will receive, yet thirst for more:
Rang'd on their Bafes Ten fair Lavers near,
On either fide like Inland Lakes appear:

Ten Splendid Lamps of Ophir's Gold refin'd,
With pureft Oy, and native Luftre fhin'd.
Next fee what fpatious Courts the Dome surround,
With Portico's, and fair Piazza's crown'de
The dreadful Ark the Priefts and Levites bore,
To fettled Seats, a Wanderer no more.
When all compleat, à vast Assembly came,
Drawn by their Monarchs and their Temples Fame:
The Dedication now their Care employs,

And Ifrael's Sons in feftal Hymns rejoyce:
Nor cou'd a Thousand Hecatombs fuffice,
The bleating, and the bellowing Nation dies,
Almoft the Species falls a Sacrifice.
---See where the pious Prince himself expands,
Kneeling before the Throne his fpotlefs Hands!
Loud Inftruments and Voices fill the Quire,
Their Praife receiv'd, for lo! th' aufpicious Fire
Breaks from the Oracle, the Priests retire;

A Prefent Deity by all confefs'd,

}

Trembling, their Fathers God they call, adoring,
bless'd.

The Queen of Sheba vifits Solomon ; propounds Questions to him Prefents to him, and receives from him.

Ttracted by the Hebrew Monarch's Fame, Rich Sheba's Queen from blefs'd Arabia came: Prepar'd, as was the Custom of her Age,

To prove his Skill with Problems Deep and Sage : How fplendid was her Train, how vaft her' Store?

What Caravans of Camels Spices bore,

What precious Gems and Heaps of shining Ore?
Majestic on his Throne she saw him crown'd,
She faw his Nobles waiting filent round,

And ftruck with awe, cou'd fcarce her Doubts propound :

But when she heard the Prince with ease explain,
What Foktan's Sons fo oft had try'd in vain ;
No Trees or Shrubs that on the Mountains grew,
No Herbs that drank the Valley's fragrant Dew,
But he their Names and various Natures knew;
