Lieut. Col. Philip Reade, inspector-general volunteers. Continued on duty as inspector-general Department of Dakota during the year. He was assigned September 30, 1899, per Special Orders, No. 210, paragraph 39, Adjutant-General's Office, September 8, 1899, and General Orders, No. 14, that department, September 30, 1899. Maj. C. H. Murray, inspector-general, U. S. V. Continued on leave of absence granted by Special Orders, No. 19, paragraph 8, headquarters Division of the Philippines, April 30, 1900, the same having been extended by Special Orders, No. 169, Headquarters of the Army, July 20, 1900, until October 4, 1900, on which date he reported for duty in the office of the Inspector-General of the Army, per Special Orders, No. 227, paragraph 26, Headquarters of the Army, September 27, 1900. Relieved from this duty November 2, 1900, per Special Orders, No. 256, Adjutant-General's Office, October 31, 1900; the said order assigning him to duty at headquarters Department of the Lakes. Reported to Maj. Gen. E. S. Otis, U. S. A., at Rochester, N. Y., November 3, 1900, and accompanied him to headquarters that department; verbally assigned to duty at headquarters of the Lakes, November 9, 1900, which was confirmed in General Orders, No. 3, headquarters that department, December 1, 1900; the same order designating him as department ordnance officer and inspector of small-arms practice. Maj. A. C. Sharpe, inspector-general, U. S. V. Continued on duty as acting judgeadvocate and as inspector-general Department of Porto Rico to August 25, 1900, on which date he availed himself of the leave of absence on account of disability, granted per paragraph 30, Special Orders, No. 197, Headquarters of the Army, 1900. Relinquished said leave on November 11, 1900, on which date he reported to the commanding general, Department of the Colorado and Missouri, for duty as inspector-general, per paragraph 22, Special Orders, No. 246, Headquarters of the Army, 1900. Relieved as inspector-general Department of the Missouri November 27, 1900, by paragraph 1, Special Orders, No. 102, Department of the Missouri, 1900. By the act of February 2, 1901, he was made a major of infantry, and was detailed as an assistant adjutantgeneral by Special Orders, No. 49, Adjutant-General's Office, February 28, 1901, and assigned as acting inspector-general Department of the Colorado, per Special Orders, No. 76, Adjutant-General's Office, April 2, 1901.

Maj. W. D. Beach, inspector-general, U. S. V. Assigned as inspector-general Department of Southern Luzon, per Special Orders, No. 1, and per General Orders, No. 58, headquarters Division of the Philippines, April 7 and July 18, 1900. Granted leave of absence for two months per Special Orders, No. 157, paragraph 2, headquarters Division of the Philippines, October 8, 1900. Extended two months by Special Orders, No. 7, Headquarters of the Army, January 9, 1901. Relinquished leave Feb

Continued on duty as assistant secretary to the United States military governor, to which he was assigned by General Orders, No. 64, office of the United States military governor, May 7, 1900, to October 19, 1900, on which date he assumed the duties of inspector-general Department of Southern Luzon, by Special Orders, No. 164, Division of the Philippines, October 17, 1900, and General Orders, No. 76, headquarters Department of Southern Luzon, October 19, 1900, and remained on this duty until June 17, 1901, on which date he was relieved by General Orders, No. 79, headquarters Department of Southern Luzon, June 17, 1901, and directed to report to the adjutant-general of the division. Maj. F. B. McKenna, inspector-general, U. S. V. Promoted major and inspectorgeneral volunteers December 6, 1900, and assigned as assistant to inspector-general Department of Northern Luzon, per Special Orders, No. 10, paragraph 2, headquarters Division of the Philippines, 1901. Relieved March 14, 1901, in compliance with Special Orders, No. 67, Division of the Philippine Islands, March 4, 1901, and by Special Orders, No. 94, Headquarters of the Army, April 23, 1901, directed to report to the commanding-general Department of the Lakes for duty.
