The multitude of “Helps to Private Devotion,” 66 Manuals of Family Prayer,” &c. &c. already extant, sufficiently demonstrate the want, so universally felt, of a good one. But where can there be found a better, than the one so long ago provided for our use by qur good mother, the Church, viz. THE Book OF COMMON PRAYER, which is now neglected or undervalued, only because it is common; and wants the graces of novelty and variety, as it would seem, to recommend it to the fastidious taste of her degenerate children!
