RESOLUTIONS

OF THE

LEGISLATURE OF INDIANA,

RELATIVE

To soldiers in the late war with Great Britain, and others.

FEBRUARY 17, 1849.

STATE OF INDIANA.

A JOINT RESOLUTION in relation to soldiers of the war with Great Britain. Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, That our senators in Congress are hereby instructed, and our representatives requested, to use their influence to procure the passage of a law extending to soldiers of the late war with Great Britain, and also, the soldiers who were engaged in the wars with the Indians, under Harmer, St. Clair, Wayne, Harrison, Jackson, and others, the same donations of bounty land and extra pay as have been made to the soldiers engaged with Mexico.

And be it further resolved, That his excellency the governor of the State of Indiana be requested to forward to each of our senators and representatives in Congress a copy of this resolution.

KANKAKEE AND IRAQUOIS RIVERS.

RESOLUTIONS

OF THE

LEGISLATURE OF INDIANA,

RELATIVE

To the improvement of the navigation of the Kankakee and Iraquois rivers.

FEBRUARY 17, 1849.

Laid upon the table, and ordered to be printed.

A JOINT RESOLUTION in relation to the improvement of the navigation of the Kankakee and Iraquois rivers in the States of Indiana and Illinois.

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, That our senators in Congress be instructed, and our representatives requested, to vote for and use their best endeavors to procure the passage of a law by the present Congress, granting every alternate section of land belonging to the United States, along the Kankakee and Iraquois rivers, in the States of Indiana and Illinois, for two miles in width on each side thereof, for the purpose of improving the slack-water navigation of said rivers, and draining the wet lands bordering thereon.

Be it further resolved, That the governor of this State be requested to transmit copies of the foregoing resolution to each of our senators and representatives in Congress.

HARBOR AT MICHIGAN CITY.

RESOLUTIONS

No. 47.

OF THE

LEGISLATURE OF INDIANA.

RELATIVE TO

The harbor at Michigan City and St. Joseph.

FEBRUARY 17, 1849.

Laid upon the table, and ordered to be printed.

A JOINT RESOLUTION relative to a harbor at Michigan City.

Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, That our senators in Congress be instructed, and our representatives requested, to vote for and procure an appropriation for the speedy completion of the harbor at Michigan City, and to improve the St. Joseph, and mouth of the St. Joseph river.

Resolved further, That his excellency the governor, be requested to forward a copy of the foregoing resolution to each of our senators and representatives in Congress.
