2 Shall God invite us from above?
Shall Jesus plead his dying love?
Shall troubled conscience give us pain,
And all these pleas unite in vain ?
3 Not so our eyes will alway view
The objects which we now pursue;
Not so will heaven and hell appear
When death's decisive hour is near.
4 Almighty God! thy grace impart,
And fix conviction on each heart;
Thy power can clear the darkest eyes,
And make the proudest scorner wise.

HYMN 159. C. M.

Compassion of our High Priest above.

1 WITH joy we meditate the grace
Of our High Priest above,
His heart is full of tenderness,
And overflows with love.

2 Touch'd with a sympathy within,
He knows our feeble frame,

He knows what sore temptations mean,
For He has felt the same.

3 He'll never quench the smoking flax, But raise it to a flame;

The bruised reed He never breaks,
Nor scorns the meanest name.

4 Then let our humble faith address
His mercy and his power,
And we shall find redeeming grace
In dark temptation's hour.

HYMN 160. L. M.

Evening Hymn.

1 GLORY to Thee, my God, this night,
For all the blessings of the light:
Keep me, oh! keep me, King of kings,
Under thine own Almighty wings.

2 Forgive me, Lord, for thy dear Son,
The ills that I this day have done;
That with the world, myself and Thee,
I, ere I sleep, at peace may be.

3 Teach me to live that I may dread
The grave as little as my bed;
Teach me to die, that so I may
Triumphant rise at the last day.

4 O may my soul on Thee repose,
And with sweet sleep mine eyelids close;
Sleep, that may me more active make,
To serve my God when I awake.

5 Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, angelic host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

S. M.

To God, the Father, Son,
And Spirit, glory be,

As 'twas, and is, and shall be so,
To all eternity.

GIVE God the Father praise,
Glory to God the Son,

To God the Spirit of all grace
Be equal honour done.

C. M.

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
The God whom we adore,
Be glory, as it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.

To praise the Father, and the Son,
And Spirit all divine,

The one in three, the three in one,
Let men and angels join.

L. M.

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
The God whom heaven and earth adore,
Be glory as it was of old,

Is now and shall be evermore.

PRAISE God from whom all blessings flow; Praise him all creatures here below; Praise him above, angelic host;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

SEVENS.

PRAISE the name of God most high,
Praise Him, all below the sky;
Praise Him, all ye heavenly host,
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

P. M. SIX LINES, 8.

IMMORTAL honour, endless fame,
Ascribe to God the Father's name;
Let God the Son be glorified,
Who for lost man's redemption died;
And equal adoration be,

O God, the Spirit, paid to Thee.

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
The God whom heaven's triumphant host,
And suffering saints on earth adore,
Be glory, as in ages past,

And now is giv'n, and so shall last
When time itself shall be no more.

104TH PSALM.

By angels in heaven, of every degree, And saints upon earth, all praise be address'd,

To God in three persons, one God ever blest,

As it has been, now is, and always shall be.

Blest is the man who stands in awe........................................
By Babel's streams we sat, and wept
Eternal source of every joy
For ever blest be God, the Lord.

From all that dwell below the skies......
Give sentence with me, gracious Lord
Give to the Lord, ye sons of men
Give to our God immortal praise........
Glorious things of Thee are spoken..............
God is our refuge in distress...
God, my strength, to Thee I pray
God of my strength, the wise, the just
Great God, thy equal mercies flow......
He that hath God his guardian made
He who with generous pity glows........
Hear me, O Lord! in my distress

.................

How are thy servants blest, O Lord!......
How blest is he who ne'er consents
How blest are they who always keep
How holy is the Lord, how just
How long wilt Thou forget me, Lord?
How pleasant and how good it is
How pleasant is the sight, how sweet!
How shall the young preserve their ways
I'll call to mind thy works, O Lord!..........
In tender mercy, not in wrath.......
In Thee we put our steadfast trust
I waited meekly for the Lord
Let all the lands with shouts of joy.
Lift up your heads, eternal gates!
Lord! for ever at thy side

Lord, hast thou cast thy servants off?..
Lord, hear the voice of my complaint..
