I reference Gesenius's Lexicon as a standard lexicon, and access parts of it through other sources. Through Google Books, not all of the words and phrases entered into the Google Books search engine are displayed, which is due—for the most part—to the lowered quality of the original antique printing technology. The inherently sloppy nature of the original print does not compliment modern textual display technology. In addition, Gesenius's Lexicon is archaic, with countless old world idiosyncrasies. So my criticism was not intended to detract from the value of Google Books itself. Actually, being able to experience any sort of modern search functionality—with such an archaic source—seems amazing.
And could you imagine being one of the typesetters of the first ever printing of Gesenius's Lexicon? Some might become madmen.
It is disappointing that only 613 of 1127 pages are available online.
