SERMON XCI.XCV. The Time of need, a Time of Love, Ezek. xvi. 8. Now, when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee; behold, The words being viewed in their fpiritual meaning, analized, explained, 1. The finner's time of need and mifery, as defcribed in the context, 2. God's time of love, as here also represented, confidered, 3. After taking a view of the words in their feope and design, analizing and explaining them, deducing an obfervation from them, and confirming it by an induction of fcripture-inftances, the following general heads are propofed, viz. 1. To mention fome things the Lord doth towards his church and people, that are dark and mysterious, hidden and unknown, 288 2. To fhew in what refpects thefe things that he is doing for them, may be hid and unknown to them, 293 3. For what reafon the Lord takes this way of doing, fo hid, dark, and myfterious, that what he doth they know not, 297 4.
