WHEELER, Vice-President of the United States : SIR: Referring to my answer of the 22d instant to the resolution of the Senate of the 20th instant giving the estimated sum of money necessary to restore the Pensacola navy-yard to its former condition, I have the honor to state that, in addition to the sum given therein ($590,192), it is estimated that the sum of $86,709 will be necessary to rebuild the marine barracks, which were destroyed during the war.
