LUKE, iii. 2: Annas and Caiaphas being the High Priests. do. xxii. 54: Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the High Priest's house. JOHN, Xviii. 12, 13, 24: Then the band and the captain, and officers of the Jews took Jesus and bound him, and led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the High Priest that same year. 72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth 20 thee. 74 Then "began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the

75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, *Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

CHAP. XXVII.

Priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and 'delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

3 ¶Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the Chief Priests and elders,

4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.

5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and 'departed, and went and hanged himself.1

Priests held a consultation with the elders and Scribes, and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate. LUKE, xxii. 66: As soon as it was day, the elders of the people, and the Chief Priests and the Scribes came together, and led him into their council. do. xxiii. 1: And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. JOHN, xviii. 28: Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall lest they should be defiled.
