The volume being intended as a companion. to the "Bread of Life," does not contain special devotions for Holy Communion, lest its bulk should be increased without any corresponding advantage. For similar reasons, there are no devotions provided for Self-Examination and Confession, since a whole section is devoted to that purpose in the companion volume. But all such portions of "Simple Prayers" as could be retained in their integrity, with due regard to the objects of the compilation, will be found contained within.

Dedicating his humble efforts to those who, although now in the world, were once under his pastoral care, the author commends his labours to the blessing of the Holy Spirit.
