Tuesday Evening.

ALMIGHTY and Everlasting God, in

whose sight the very heavens are not clean, and who chargest Thine angels with folly, we are utterly unworthy to come into Thy presence, or to ask Thee for any blessing. But Thou hast bidden us to draw nigh to Thee. Thou hast opened for us a way to Thy mercy-seat, through Jesus Christ, our Mediator and Redeemer. For His sake, O Lord, hear us, and when Thou hearest, forgive and bless us.

Through another day we have been preserved by Thy kind Providence, and blest by Thy bounty. For our daily bread, O Lord, we thank Thee. We praise Thy holy Name for the religious privileges and means of instruction with

which we are favoured. Especially do we offer unto Thee our hearty thanksgivings for Thy holy word, given to us to light our path through this dark world.

O God, who hast most graciously bestowed upon us that word, give us, we humbly pray Thee, a right and profitable understanding of it. With deep humility and reverence, with the teachableness of little children, may we read and hear it. That which we see not, teach Thou us. Let Thy word always be a word in season to us. O most gracious Spirit, by whose inspiration holy men of God were moved to write it, guide us, we pray Thee, into all truth. Make known to us the great and precious things of Thy word; and may we see in its sacred pages that Saviour of whom it is Thy great work to testify.

We pray Thee, O most merciful God and Father, to pardon all in which we have this day displeased Thee. We are

poor, weak, forgetful, and unprofitable 'creatures, soon drawn away from Thee by earthly cares and vanities, and the deceitfulness of our own hearts. O Lord, pardon our many sins and shortcomings. May we now lie down on our beds comforted with a sense of Thy pardoning mercy, and resting in peace beneath Thy fatherly care.

O Thou who art a God afar off as well as nigh at hand, watch over our absent friends this night. All their wants and troubles are known to Thee. Give them Thy peace. Lead them in Thy way. Upon them and upon us pour out Thy heavenly blessing, now and for ever, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day [or, day by day] our daily bread. And forgive us

our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil: for Thine is the kingdom, the the glory, for ever and ever.

The blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be with us all now and evermore. Amen.
