THE present Volume of the Asiatic Register has been somewhat retarded by an unforeseen and uncontrollable event; but the same circumstance has enabled the Editor to bring down the detail of Indian Occurrences to a later period, and to make some valuable additions to the series of State Papers, forming a second interesting department of his Work, which an earlier publication would have precluded: so that the delay of a few weeks will be compensated, it is hoped, by the accumulated materials which it has furnished. The head allotted to official papers is more than ordinarily comprehensive. The reader will find in it many important documents, calculated to explain the |
