Pursuant to proclamation of the Governor, the Representatives met in their Hall in the Capitol, in the village of Lansing.

At 11 o'clock A. M., the Hon. Jefferson G. Thurber, the Speaker, called the House to order.

The roll was called by the clerk, when the following members answered to their names:

Messrs. Balcombe, Baldwin, Barnes, Beecher, Britain, Butterfield, D. L. Case, S. M. Case, Childs, Church, David Clark, Clyburn, Corbin, Corrigan, Covert, Earl, L. Eaton, Ferry, Fitch, Fowler, Gray, Gregory, Gulley, H. Hall, Hart, Hicks, Hitchings, Hubbell, Hyde, Kimberly, Marvin, Montgomery, Patterson, Sexton, Shearer, Sherwood, Smith, Stetson, Town, Voorhies, P. D. Warner, W. Warner, Watkins, Wheeler, Yocum-45.

The Speaker then said:

Gentlemen of the House of Representatives:

The Legislature has been convened under the constitution in pursuance of the proclamation of the Executive.

It is matter of congratulation that you bring with you on this most interesting occasion, health, and the experience of the past, to aid in the prompt discharge of the duties devolved upon this body.
