EVENING PRAYER.

At the beginning of Evening Prayer the Minister shall read distinctly with an audible voice some one or more of these Sentences of the Scriptures that follow. And then he shall say that which is written after the said sen

tences.

THEN the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. Ezek. xviii. 27.

I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Psalm li. 3.

Hide Thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Psalm li. 9.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise. Psalm li. 17.

Rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth Him of the evil. Joel ii. 13.

To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against Him: neither have we obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His laws which He set before us. Dan. ix. 9, 10. O Lord, correct me, but with judgment;

not in Thine anger, lest Thou bring me to nothing. Jer. ix. 24.

Repent ye; for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matt. iii. 2.

I will arise, and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. Luke xv. 18, 19.

Enter not into judgment with Thy servant, O Lord; for in Thy sight shall no man living be justified. Psalm cxliii. 2.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us; but, if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. John i. 8, 9.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. John iv. 24.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm xix. 14.

FOR ADVENT.

EHOLD, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Rev. i. 7.

He Who testifieth these things saith,

Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Rev. xxii. 20.

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Titus ii. 13.

FOR THE NATIVITY OF CHRIST.

WHEN the fulness of the time was

come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Gal. iv. 4, 5.

The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, (the glory as of the only Begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John i. 14.

FOR THE EPIPHANY.

IT is a light thing that Thou shouldest

be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel; I will also give Thee for a light to the Gentiles, that Thou mayest be My salvation unto the end of the earth. Isaiah xlix. 6.

FOR THE DAY OF THE CRUCIFIXION OF OUR LORD.
